Tujuan penelitian ini diantaranya: (1) menemukan karakteristik perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan, (2) mendeskripsikan kevalidan perangkat pembelajaran, (3) menganalisis keefektifan pembelajaran menggunakan perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan dan (4) menganalisis peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa melalui pengunaan perangkat pembelajaran yang dikembangkan. Metode dalam penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan Research And Development menggunakan model Plomp. In their article "Problem-based Variations in Teaching Stephen Dobyns's 'Kansas' in China" Tao Zou and Hong Zeng discuss the multiple variations in their experience of teaching foreign literature in China, with the teaching of Stephen Dobyns's short story "Kansas" as an example and the positive results of their approach. Variations in a broad sense occur with the differences in the choice of literary text, translation, interpretation, and canonization. All these variations can be used to reflect on and resolve major current issues in teaching foreign literature, and to stage cross-cultural communication and creativity through foreign literature pedagogy.

This research is used quantitative approach and descriptive method. Instrument used by the research is skala Survey of Study Habits and Attitudes questionnaire to describing media social using by students and Likert Scale questionnaire to describing student's political literacy. Data analysis using Rank Spearman Order.
The result show that social media used by students 48% good, 26% fair, and 15% poor. Student's political literacy are 36% good, 43% fair, and 21% poor. The role of social media in the development of student's political literacy is 54,79% affected by social media, and 45,21% affected by other factors.
