Students with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), especially the ones who display challenging behaviors, are more likely to benefit from Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) teaching strategies. This study aimed to investigate special education teachers’ perspectives on the efficacy of ABA strategies on challenging behaviors for students with ASD in the context of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This research used a two-phase mixed methods design, which included questionnaires (phase one) and semi-structured interviews (phase two) to collect data. Purpose: Detection ASD and intervention in superior middle level students at Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), Mexico.

Description: Upon admission to superior middle level at UANL, modified Gilliam Asperger's disorder scale (GADS) was applied to parents in a Program to identify behavioral characteristics associated to ASD.

Parents of students with positive GADS were informed and students were scheduled for standard psychological testing in order to evaluate cognitive process, study habits, social anxiety and self-esteem, prior to an intervention.

From 2014 to 2020, 178 013 GADS were applied; there were 332 (0.19%) students with definite or suggestive pattern of ASD. …

Within the educational system, students with autism are often misunderstood or overlooked, resulting in an inadequate educational experience for students with ASD. This research was conducted in pursuit of collecting information on students with autism so that current music educators might be better equipped to engage these students effectively within their classroom.
