Single Sex Classrooms, How Boys and Girls Learn Differently Gurian (2004) examined the differences between girls and boys. He reported girls and boys learn fundamentally differently. This applied project identifies these differences and provides strategies that teachers can use in the classroom. The strategies are effective for boys and girls at the elementary school level. Implementing these strategies will enable teachers to address the gender specific learning needs of both boys and girls.

Advantages of Looping at the Elementary Level Recently, looping has been getting attention from educators and educational reformers as a low cost, easily implemented way to improve education. In this project, the author created an inservice presentation designed as an introduction to the practice of looping at the elementary level. The target audience was elementary teachers and administrators. The presentation provided a brief history of the practice of looping, the theory behind the practice, a synthesis of the benefits and possible challenges of looping, and finally, several tips and considerations for the implementation of looping.

This research examines the different reading comprehension strategies that students can use in order to be successful at reading comprehension. The strategies discussed in this research project were chosen based on the research available and the success rates of the strategies. The author presented the concept of self-regulated learning (SRL) as a method to encourage students to become lifelong learners. A review of literature showed the need for lifelong learners. The literature revealed the theories behind SRL in education. In addition, the literature demonstrated that the components of SRL can be taught to students as young as the primary grades.
