North East Integrated Care Programme (Icp): A Ground-Up And Grounded Model, Kar Yee Lim, Zhong Liang Ong

Social Space

Schools and school counsellors can only look after students while they are physically in school, and not many can do so outside of school, or are able to tackle wider problems that go beyond the child, such as if they faced challenges at home. Although school personnel occasionally pay home visits to certain pupils to explore ways of engaging them or offering assistance, it is not always

easy to bridge the gap betweentheir specific needs and theavailable social services in the community.

Co-curricular activities are an integral part of students’ holistic education. Yet, assessing experiential learning outcomes in the co-curricular space can sometimes prove to be challenging, given that not all of such learning experiences are designed or structured in a manner similar to academic courses or programmes. Rather, indirect measures of learning such as asking students to reflect on what they have learnt and experienced is often used for rendering visible learning outcomes. Using reflective practice, the SMU Gravical 2018, an international sporting event, provided the learning platform for the 19 committee members of the Singapore Management University (SMU) Climb team. …

Effects Of Team-Skills Guidance On Accounting Students With Lone Wolf Tendencies, Jean Lin Seow, Premila Gowri-Shankar

Research Collection School Of Accountancy

We investigate whether short-term in-class team-skills guidance impacts the perceptions of accounting students with lone wolf tendencies on team work, and peer evaluation systems adopted in team work. We find that students with greater lone wolf tendencies see fewer benefits from engaging in team work, believing this to result in a poorer learning experience and poorer team performance outcomes. They are also less flexible in thought and feel more incompetent working in teams, preferring to rely on self and to work on their own. Unlike students with lesser lone wolf tendencies, they are also less comfortable with peer evaluation systems, …

Entrepreneurship education is a key beneficiary of design thinking’s recent momentum. Both designers and entrepreneurs create opportunities for innovation in products, services, processes, and business models. More specifically, both design thinking and entrepreneurship education encourage individuals to look at the world with fresh eyes, create hypotheses to explain their surroundings and desired futures, and adopt cognitive acts to reduce the psychological uncertainty associated with ambiguous situations. In this article, we illustrate how we train students to apply four well-established cognitive acts from the design cognition research paradigm—framing, analogical reasoning, abductive reasoning, and mental simulation—to opportunity creation. Our pedagogical approach is …
