The purpose of this hermeneutic phenomenology is to explore the experiences of U.S. Army company commanders regarding insubordinate acts aimed at undermining their legitimate command authority. The theory guiding this dissertation is French and Raven’s (1959) theory of social power, which states that power is divided into five unique forms that leaders use in exercising their will to accomplish tasks. This quantitative, correlational study was conducted to examine how persistence of nontraditional college students is influenced by participation in developmental education and academic support courses. The persistence rate of students, especially nontraditional students, can have a profound impact on today’s workforce and the funding of the postsecondary institution. This predictive correlational study utilized logistic regression to examine the relationship between the predictor variables (developmental mathematics, developmental reading, and academic support courses) and the criterion variable (persistence to the next academic year). This ex post facto, causal-comparative quantitative study assessed the math and English language arts (ELA) 7th to 8th-grade academic growth among Black students enrolled in Philadelphia’s black-operated public charter schools, non-black operated charter schools, and traditional public schools while controlling for 6th-grade exam scores. Over 65 years after Brown versus Board of Education disallowed public school segregation, the academic achievement gap between Black and white students persists. Various parental and educational stakeholders have considered charter public schools as suitable educational alternatives for narrowing this academic gap. The purpose of the correlational research study was to evaluate the relationship between Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) interventions and academic performance. The significance of the research study is that it addressed the literature gap in determining if social-emotional competencies are associated with academic performance. The research study included 62 third-grade students in an elementary school in an urban school district in the Southeastern region of the United States. The purpose of this quantitative research study was to determine if a statistically significant difference existed between parental stress factors related to the transition process between pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, using the Committee on Preschool Special Education to Committee on Special Education transition process, of parents who were exposed to a workshop and those who were not. Despite significant studies on the effectiveness of the primary music education philosophies, aesthetic and praxial, there is little research on the pragmatic application of a hybrid philosophy comprising elements of both philosophies. The purpose of this quantitative, predictive correlational research study is to determine if there is a relationship between individual teachers’ self-perceptions of their grade level teaching team’s effectiveness and their teaching experiences. Research related to the development of effective teaching teams to positively influence academic progress is synthesized. The purpose of this qualitative hermeneutic phenomenology study was to describe the lived experiences of male early childhood teachers in the northeast region of the United States (US). The theory guiding this study was Victor Vroom’s expectancy theory of motivation. Vroom’s theory explains the behavioral process of why individuals choose one behavior over another or one career over another. The central research question in this study addressed the male early childhood teachers’ experiences working in the early childhood education (ECE) career field and motivation to remain in the ECE career field.
