Historical Development And Application Of The Conceptual Approach In Teaching, Louise A. Knoll Jan 1978

Historical Development And Application Of The Conceptual Approach In Teaching, Louise A. Knoll

Dissertations and Theses

This thesis addresses these problems. (1) A clear understanding of the conceptual approach is prerequisite for teaching children to think creatively. (2) The conceptual approach has been misunderstood because educators have not distinguished clearly between the terms "creative" and "creatively." (3) The conceptual approach has been misapplied because educators have lost sight of the essence of the philosophies at the heart of the method. (4) The core of truth necessary for understanding teaching for concepts can be understood by tracing philosophical thought and application of the approach from the Renaissance to 20th Century America. (5) Inconsistencies in interpretations and applications …

A Model For The Development Of Educational Specifications For Small Schools, Raymond K. Wilkinson

Dissertations

Problem. The process of carefully planning school facilities to accomodate and support a particular educational program is but a recent addition to educational theory and practice. In fact, the use of educational specifications, in which educators describe how a school will operate, and thus guide the architects in their process of design, has developed within the same general period of time during which schools have grown in size and complexity (Callahan, 1962; Roaden, 1963). As a result, the process of planning has largely been related to big schools, and the distinctive needs of small schools have been neglected. The …

Masters Theses

This project reflects the concern for maintaining and improving the quality of educational programs in the region to be comprised of Clark, Coles, Cumberland, Moultrie, Edgar, and Shelby Counties.

The establishing of this region of six counties was brought about by a change in the organization and structure of the Illinois State Education Agency.
