Girlhood has been a topic of great interest in the last decade. As individuals have examined the lack of girls in STEM or the increase of bullying in girls, there has been a push to understanding the differential experiences along gender-based lines. In this study, the researchers highlight the results of the successful implementation of a group-based curriculum that utilized identity and advocacy as critical components in a treatment package focused on self-regulation. Using a pretest-posttest design, the researchers found a statistically significant difference in several key areas that are of key importance when supporting the needs of adolescent girls. …

Most agents’ perceived their ability across the human development competencies to be average or just above average. Using the perceived importance and perceived ability data from the agents, next steps include piloting …

Undergraduate Research Conference
The purpose of this study is for pre-service teachers to begin the process of critical self-reflection that is so necessary as they begin to gain more autonomy in their field placements and student teaching. However, a critical self-awareness is merely the first step. To truly understand the prejudice that a person has, one must seek to discover why this prejudice exists and from where it comes. Prejudice is internal and it can be argued that an internal belief does not have an impact on external relationships. Prejudice, unfortunately, often manifests as discrimination or prejudice. If a teacher can authentically examine …

Disparities in the wages paid and the roles assigned to different genders have been well documented and publicized. These differentials, however, have resulted in continued and increased criticism of gender-based societal constructs.
This presentation and discussion will focus on gender roles in sport and how these influences manifest themselves in the classroom. in a time when we should continually challenge ourselves to create more inclusive classroom environments, this fundamental construct is oftentimes ignored, leading to a continuous cycle of inequality.

The Pilot Shortage – From Student Pilots To The Atps, Joe Clark M.A.S.
National Training Aircraft Symposium (NTAS)
Aviation is now facing an incredible pilot shortage, a shortage greater than anticipated in the past. Young pilots learned of the upcoming pilot shortage when told the World War II pilots were retiring, followed by the Korean aviators, then the jet jockeys of Vietnam. Somehow, those shortages never seemed to happen.
Today, it is a different story. According to statistics maintained by the Federal Aviation Administration, the number of active pilots dropped from more than 800,000 in 1980 to just over 633,000 in 2018.
