In recent years, school districts have begun to utilize evidence-based approaches to teaching and promoting appropriate behaviors such as Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), Responsive Classroom and Developmental designs. While these programs have been shown to be successful in a variety of settings, there continues to be an alarming increase in the amount of students who engage in a range of highly disruptive behaviors in school. Teachers report being underprepared, or not prepared at all, to effectively manage challenging behaviors from students, which leads to high rates of teacher burnout and attrition. This is a qualitative research project focusing on four experienced teachers perspectives of why they feel some in the field of teaching become "burned out," or choose to leave to the field. For this project, an experienced teacher is one who has reached Tenure status, and is no longer considered a probationary teacher. Four participants were interviewed on a variety of issues that they felt perhaps lead to "burnout." The research also includes some possible solutions to "burnout."

The purpose of this study is to examine ways to best prepare students in an art curriculum at a high school level who wish to go on to pursue a career as a professional artist or designer. In this study I have interviewed eleven professional artists and designers. I asked them a series of questions regarding the types of subjects that, based upon their experience, they would recommend be taught at that level. I have also asked them to identify those things that they feel teachers could do to encourage students to consider art or design as a career.

While the value of the parent/teacher partnership is universally accepted, it is not always easy to promote or maintain. The purpose of this study was to identify the effective steps to creating parent/teacher partnerships in special education, in order to plan a curriculum that was more response to children's needs. This thesis evaluates the Augsburg College Teachers of Color Program in several crucial areas (based on "The Seven Essential Elements of a Successful Urban [Alternative] Licensure Program" model). These areas include the selection and screening of candidates, the combination of theory and practice, collaborative partnerships, information sharing (communication among all parties), professional and pedagogical studies (curriculum), attitudes and perception of new teachers, and supervision and mentoring (school and college mentoring).
