Due to the growing restlessness created by the continuous, systematic and indiscriminate use of drugs in North American society, it is generally agreed upon by most scientists that there is an urgent and indispensable need for scientific research in this area.

The essential base for the construction of a general theory about drug addiction and its individual and social implications, undoubtedly takes its roots from research and case studies differentiated by (1) personality types, (2) ethnic groups, (3) social class origin, (4) different types of drugs, (5) circumstances of addiction, and (6) various forms of rehabilitation.

For many years a difference of opinion has existed regarding the classroom placement of "emotionally disturbed" children into special classes. The majority of public school districts offer two placements into their special classes: heterogenous or homogeneous grouping. Homogeneous grouping of these children seems to cause a "boomeranging" effect on reinforcement of their disruptive behavior. We have not always found our answer for helping emotionally disturbed children through heterogeneous grouping. Since emotionally disturbed children usually have the ability or an above average ability to learn, a heterogeneous grouping may not be academically stimulating. Recently, however, this method has been questioned by leading special educators. Visual perception refers to the process of receiving and analyzing sensory information through the medium of the eye. The report extensively surveys literature concerning the developmental processes and characteristics of visual perception. The research tended to show a relationship between visual perceptual maturity and academic achievement. The prominent remedial programs were discussed in conjunction with supporting or disputing research concerning the alleged benefits. Finally, studies dealing with the visual perception of the mentally retarded were proffered.

Recognizing a need to develop religious instructional material for mentally retarded seminary students of the L.D.S. Church, this study was designed to validate an instructional model set up to teach the concept of faith.

Thirty-four mentally retarded seminary students were randomly assigned to six control groups and six experimental groups. Each group was given a sixteen question pre-test. Then, the next day each experimental group was given instructional treatment and the post-test, while the control groups only received the post-test. The Study was geared for a two hour period of time. Results obtained from the analysis of covariance showed a …
