Shanshan investigates whether there is a greater likelihood of producing passives with animate (as opposed to inanimate) patients being placed in the grammatical subject position during syntactic priming activities.

The COEHD Diversity and Difference Standing Committee serves as a clearinghouse for activities, expertise, and curriculum materials related to diversity and difference. The Committee enhances communication, scholarship collaboration, coordination of professional developments and sharing of resources among those engaged in learning about diversity and difference. It also works to promote diversity in all aspects of the College of Education and Human Development. Each school elects one member to serve on the Diversity and Difference Committee, and one additional member is elected as an at-large member.

Occupational Therapy’S Role In Addressing Sensory Deficits In Children With Behavioral Health Challenges Through Teacher Training, Devon A. Ayres, Becki Cohill, Susan Macdermott, Mark Wilson
Summer 2020 Virtual OTD Capstone Symposium
Sensory processing difficulties have been well-documented in children who have behavioral health challenges. Addressing a child’s sensory processing needs may decrease behaviors that disrupt occupational participation and thus leading to improved learning and better information retention. A review of current literature revealed that teachers who work with children with behavioral health challenges are not required to receive education in addressing sensory deficits in the classroom. This capstone project performed a needs assessment, exploring current teacher understanding of sensory processing and what role occupational therapy could play in providing training for teachers. This Racial Justice Challenge was created by the University of Maine's Raymond H. Fogler Library and the Office for Diversity and Inclusion for the week of August 3-7, 2020. The challenge consists of five days of activities and exercises intended to provide a supportive space to learn, share information, and take action toward racial justice. This challenge had over 2000 participants from all over the United States and some International representation, ranging from middle schoolers to retirees. Included in this file is each day and the action plan needed for day five.
