Objective Method For Diagnosis Of Chronic Pain (Presentation), Rachel Jiang Mar 2021

Objective Method For Diagnosis Of Chronic Pain (Presentation), Rachel Jiang

Generator at Sheridan

Pain assessment is essential to providing proper patient care and assessing its efficacy under clinical settings. To assess pain, physicians typically rely on patients' statements, which are subjective, or imaging technologies, which are unreliable as detected abnormalities do not always indicate pain and are not always present in cases of chronic pain. This research project aims at creating an automated chronic pain diagnostic system that will output a computer diagnosed pain score with the ability to accurately distinguish real from fake pain. The proposed system will enhance patient care and improve clinical practice efficiencies by applying the advanced 3D technologies …

We will share the preliminary findings from our research exploring the experiences of older adults during the COVID-19 pandemic. We conducted multiple in-depth interviews with 25 older adults (aged 51-84) who live in Halton and the surrounding areas to explore how they have fared during the global spread of a virus that may be particularly dangerous to older persons. We followed their experiences, from initial rumors of an infectious disease spreading in China, to the lockdown in March, the gradual re-opening over the summer of 2020, and the second wave in the fall of 2020. We also learned how it …

The focus of the presentation will be on best practices prior …
