This research investigates the multifaceted implications of student retention, academic performance, and instructional methodologies within our TECH 1001/1013 courses at Arkansas Tech University. The work examines enrollment trends, scrutinizes the academic grades of retained and non-retained students, evaluates overall course performance metrics, assesses the average grading patterns of instructors, and compares the academic outcomes between face-to-face and online instructional formats. By conducting this quantitative analysis study, the research aims to explain the correlations between student retention rates and academic success. This quantitative, quasi-experiment study examined college faculty member’s level of training in the area of teaching practices and methodology. This study examined the difference in self-reported perceptions of cultural diversity awareness between two specific groups, community residents and police personnel, within a Midwestern city’s community and police department. This study also measured how their attitudes related to their likelihood to assist in enhancing the goals of community policing, which includes the prevention of crime. Literature cited demonstrates that social injustice toward African Americans and Latinos, cultural diversity ignorance, miscommunication, and lack of trust between community residents and police personnel are indicators that their relationships require positive solutions toward repairing a historically strained relationship. Cooperative learning strategies are effective in raising student achievement in higher education settings. Positive evidence of the importance of small group structures are found in an in-depth literature review and summary of multiple key studies. The research found six features and benefits to be present in effective cooperative learning methodology for learners: positive interdependence, individual accountability, various leadership skills, information retention, identification of group facilitation techniques, and development of social skills.

College and university campuses are regularly faced with various types of crises. One category of crisis that is becoming a more regular event of concern is the active shooter event. Trainings exist that can help individuals respond more confidently in the event of an active shooter incident on campus.
