In addition, the relationships of selected variables to these statuses were investigated.

A Descriptive Analysis Of Evangelical Seminaries In Canada Based On And Comparing The Views Of Their Presidents And Deans And Of The Canadian Leaders Of Evangelical Denominations, Edward Lawrence Oke

Dissertations

Problem

Evangelical seminaries in Canada enroll more students than those of mainline denominations, yet they lack recognition and acceptance. This problem may be due to insufficient information, inaccurate understanding of evangelicals, or the fact that most of them were founded since 1970. No study has attempted to describe them or to analyse their distinctives and growth.

Method

One of the most recent studies of Canadian seminaries was by Robert T. Handy who compared Canadian and American members of ATS and reported his findings in the Spring 1982 issue of Theological Education which also included responses from five Canadian educators. The …

Factors Indicating Voag/Ffa Program Quality As Perceived By Idaho Voag Instructors And Principals, Richard M. Foster, Louis E. Riensenberg

Department of Agricultural Leadership, Education, and Communication: Faculty Publications

In public school education, as in private industry, a difference of opinion may exist between management and production about the quality of activities inherent in an occupation. The high school principals and vocational agriculture teachers in our public school systems are certainly no exception. Both have the common goal of making the vocational program within the school district the highest quality possible. In order to develop a high-quality vocational agriculture program, these two individuals must not only communicate with one another what they think are the most important and highest quality activities in which the vocational agriculture teacher should participate, …

The Academic Achievement Of Chinese-American Fluent English Proficient And Non-Minority Background Intermediate Grade Students (Bilingual, Asian-American), Edmund W. Lee

University of the Pacific Theses and Dissertations

More than a decade has passed since the United States Supreme Court made its historic decision in Lau v. Nichols on January 21, 1974. Ruling in favor of the non-English-speaking Chinese plaintiffs, the Court upheld earlier guidelines established by the office for Civil Rights for school districts with more than five percent national origin-minority group children. In delivering the Court's opinion, Justice Douglas reiterated these words of J. Stanley Pottinger, former director of OCR:

Within the last 10 years considerable attention has been given tot he effects of personality type on teaching and learning. Nearly 700 studies have been completed, but few have involved students of agriculture. Lawrence (1982) has stated that one of the greatest problems of American education today is the failure to recognize the unique learning needs of differing personality types.

A Study Of The Relationship Between Leadership Responsibility And The Career Aspirations And Salience Of College Women, Deborah R. Stevenson Jan 1985

A Study Of The Relationship Between Leadership Responsibility And The Career Aspirations And Salience Of College Women, Deborah R. Stevenson

Masters Theses

Expanded career opportunities for women have emerged following the women's movement and equal opportunity legislation. Today, statistics show more women, single, married and female heads of the household, are in the work force than ever before. Yet, women are not entering those jobs in which greater earning and advancement potential exist and professional women have not advanced significantly.

The literature discussing issues related to women and work indicates that leadership responsibility may play a role in raising both the career aspirations and salience of women. If this is so then providing appropriate leadership experience emerges as a potential tool for …

An Investigation Into Current Evangelical College Secularization, William Arthur Wilson Jan 1985

An Investigation Into Current Evangelical College Secularization, William Arthur Wilson

Dissertations, Theses, and Masters Projects

This study investigated the claim that some of the academically best evangelical colleges are in the process of secularizing. An instrument was developed which differentiated between evangelical and more liberal positions on religious, social, and political issues. Faculty attitudes were measured as representative of a particular college's position.;In Phase I, the DISCRIMINANT Program of the SPSS produced a predictor equation based on those questionnaire items which best discriminated between a stratified, random sample of faculty at known evangelical colleges and a similar sample at known secularized, church-related institutions. Validity of the instrument was shown as 94.59% of the evangelical professors …

Dissertations, Theses, and Masters Projects

The purpose of this dissertation was to examine the collegiate way of living; how it began, how it developed and changed, and why institutions have adhered to it. Communal dining was emphasized in an attempt to determine why colleges have believed it to be important enough to require it of differing student populations, under widely varying circumstances, over a period of at least four hundred years.;The College of William and Mary in Virginia was selected as a case study for this project. One of America's earliest colleges, William and Mary was founded on the British (Oxbridge) model, and has required …

Image, Institution And Leadership : Philip Lindsley And The Modern University Presidency 1825-1850, David Mathis

Dissertations, Theses, and Masters Projects

Colleges and universities have historically found that their projected image, character, prestige, and reputation is highly significant to success, even though these illusive indicators of quality may be little more than emotional responses to what people believe, rather than reality. These over-simplifications are based on filtered messages and perceptions, and when they occur, a Gestalt view results that relates to the institution as a whole. One avenue often utilized by institutions of higher education to achieve this institutional image or character is through the president or major spokesman.;One important historic case of the spokesman's role in higher education is that …
