Utilizing a grounded theory approach this dissertation created a database of legislation, hearings transcripts, and education reports. Searching this database for commonly used terminology, this dissertation was seeking a pattern in language use that could demonstrate the incursion of neoliberal economic terminology into the way high education was discussed during these years. This qualitative study explored the experiences of Black faculty at predominantly White institutions (PWIs) in southeastern Florida. The aim was to uncover the unique challenges influencing the retention of Black faculty in these settings and to identify supportive mechanisms enhancing their tenure and job satisfaction. Data collection involved semistructured interviews with Black faculty at Florida PWIs, employing snowball sampling for participant recruitment. Thematic analysis interpreted the data. The purpose of this non-experimental quantitative study was to determine the effect global experiences have on undergraduate students’ self-confidence, cultural awareness, and career choice. The research took place at a single research site, a private, faith-based university in the Southeastern United States. Students who had participated in a global experience, such as a mission trip or a study abroad experience, were invited to complete the researcher-created survey, the Global Experience Exit Survey. The data from 59 undergraduate students was analyzed using SPSS, specifically one sample t-tests. The results indicated statistically significant findings for all three subconstructs.
