In Wednesday's issue of the Campus, two letters to the editor viciously attacked gays in general and the Wilde-Stein club in particular. The scurrilous tone of the letters is regrettable, and only illustrates the authors' deplorable lack of tolerance.

Imagine yourself if you will, walking down a dark side walk somewhere on campus. It just so happens that on this particular night you are wearing jeans and by coincidence it happens to be Friday, alias "Gay Jeans Day." The next thing you know five or six gays approach you giving a sales pitch about the Wilde-Stein club. Talk about your queer situation.

Dear Wilde-Steiners, What is your problem anyway? Have you ever heard of learning from experience? The Wilde-Stein club survives very well in the UMO community. Due to a general atmosphere of indifference, you are able to meet and enjoy your rights with little interference from your fellow students. If you claim: "We just want the freedom to be able to live our lives the way we want," fine...do that. We at UMO have not stopped you from being able to achieve this in the past.
