Jeans Day A Success, Says Steiner, Doug Bailey, Ann Fridinger
Jeans Day A Success, Says Steiner, Doug Bailey, Ann Fridinger
Social Justice: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Despite some student opposition and organizational problems, Friday's Gay Blue Jeans Day was termed a success by one club member. "There seemed to be many people wearing jeans and not as many counter-protesters as last year," said Tim Lane, a member of the Wilde-Stein Club, UMO's homosexual organization. "Last year there was much more opposition to the event."

I am saddened by your editorial endorsement of "quiet complacency" by suggesting that the Gay community would have been better off respecting the individualist dictum of "You do your thing and I'll do mine."

I wore jeans last Friday in support of the gay community and their rights as individuals. After experiencing the attitude and prejudices of some of my fellow students, I wrote this sort of conglomerate of their opinions: "Phew! Am I glad "gay day" is over! Now I can put my good ole jeans on again.

Dear Wilde-Steiners, What is your problem anyway? Have you ever heard of learning from experience? The Wilde-Stein club survives very well in the UMO community. Due to a general atmosphere of indifference, you are able to meet and enjoy your rights with little interference from your fellow students. If you claim: "We just want the freedom to be able to live our lives the way we want," fine...do that. We at UMO have not stopped you from being able to achieve this in the past.

Blue Jeans Fever, The Maine Campus
Social Justice: Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
The UMO Wilde-Stein club missed the nail completely in promoting another Gay Blue Jeans Day on campus. While their message—gays are human and deserve to be treated as such—is relevant, their form of expression is a bad choice.

A Kentucky Dressmaker, Mrs. A.H. (Carrie) Taylor: An Examination Of Her Role In Fashion At The Turn Of The Century, Janice Centers
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
One dressmaker, Mrs. A. H. Taylor of Bowling Green, Kentucky, was studied in order to draw attention to the role of the dressmaker in American fashion. A biography of Mrs. A. H.
