A Comparison Of Role Perceptions Of Selected University Presidents And Their Reference Groups, Fern D. Stout

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

The university presidents, as chief administrators of a complex institution, must deal with a variety of problems: buildings, money, organization, legal provisions, educational programs, and people. Campbell points out that school administration also deals with the values, beliefs, and feelings of people. Unfortunately, there is little assistance from research upon which the presidents can rely in dealing with the human elements involved in university administration, and to a large extent people are the crucial elements in administration. People within the university structure, and outside, have varying and often conflicting expectations of how the university presidents should act. The presidents themselves …

An Analysis Of The Allocation Of State Support To Pupil Transportation In New Mexico, Lloyd Laverne Cockrell May 1961

An Analysis Of The Allocation Of State Support To Pupil Transportation In New Mexico, Lloyd Laverne Cockrell

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

The origin and development of pupil transportation in the United States has been influenced by social, economic, and technological factors. In an interdependent way, these factors have directed and controlled the evolution of pupil transportation. The reason for transporting pupils to school are rooted in the elements of our rural culture and in the social, economic, and technological forces acting upon it. The American farmer, by living on the land he tilled, helped to introduce forms of rural social structure which made pupil transportation inevitable. The needs of early rural people were met by the establishment of social organizations such …

The Indian Child's Status In New Mexico's Public Elementary School Science Programs, Carol M. Charles

Teacher Education, Educational Leadership & Policy ETDs

In the year 1950, public laws 815 and 874 were formally added to the federal statutes through action by the Congress of the United States. This legislation provided federal funds to public schools under conditions which enabled and encouraged their integration of Indian students. Overall, such integration was advantageous to Indian groups. Since the 1920's the conviction that Indians learned better in the public schools, where there was increased contact with the majority culture, had been growing. Recent research, involving Indian students from mission schools, federal schools, and public schools, supported this conviction. The transfer of students from Bureau of …

A Study Of The Homeroom Program In Three Senior High Schools In Utah, Ida D. Draayer

The fact that each individual is different presents a distinct challenge, and the secondary school is capable of meeting this challenge of individual development if the homeroom functions as it should.

Why Christian Education Is Necessary Today (Article For Tu Bulletin), Milo A. Rediger Feb 1961

Why Christian Education Is Necessary Today (Article For Tu Bulletin), Milo A. Rediger

Milo Rediger Writings & Addresses

A few years ago Philip E. Jacob conducted a study in an attempt to discover if the colleges of America are changing the value patterns and commitments of students. His conclusion was that, in the main, this is not happening to any extent which is measurable. He did say, however, that there are a few small colleges which seem to be exceptions to this general rule and, although he did not understand the implications of it, he felt obligated to call attention to this possible exception.

It is my conviction that the "exception" is the truly effective Christian college.
