A Study Of Teacher Talking Time And Student Talking Time Practices Among Esl Instructors At An Intensive English Program, Cesar R. Bazo Quintana

This study focuses on Teacher Talking Time (TTT) and Student Talking Time (STT) practices among ESL instructors at an Intensive English Program in a southeastern public research university. Based on a qualitative case study approach, the study demonstrates that participating ESL instructors were oriented more towards TTT practices while teaching their regular lessons. The study found disproportionate use of TTT. The study has helped participant ESL instructors become more aware of the behaviors that are conducive to both increased TTT and increased STT practices in their classes. This, in turn, can lead to improved teaching practices, which will benefit ESL …

All students deserve high-quality, strategic instruction, yet pre-service teachers are not always taught best practices for instructing English Learners (ELs), students for whom English is not their native language. Many educators state that teaching English-Language Learners (ELLs) is just a matter of good teaching. While effective teaching is something that all children deserve, there are some differences between the approach a teacher may have to take with ELLs and with other students. One aspect of this difference is the fact that, while children go through the same stages of language development, ELLs may be at stages typically not found in other students. Based on a case study of an EL and his teacher, this article explains cueing systems and their role in literacy for ELs.

การวิจัยในครั้งนี้เป็นการพัฒนาแบบวัดการรู้ทางการเมืองของนักเรียนระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนปลาย มีวัตถุประสงค์คือ 1) เพื่อพัฒนาแบบวัดการรู้ทางการเมืองของนักเรียนระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนปลาย 2) เพื่อวิเคราะห์คุณภาพแบบวัดการรู้ทางการเมืองของนักเรียนระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนปลาย 3) เพื่อเปรียบเทียบการรู้ทางการเมืองของนักเรียนระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนปลาย โรงเรียนสาธิตฯ กับ นักเรียนในโรงเรียนสังกัด สพฐ. กลุ่มตัวอย่างคือ นักเรียนระดับประถมศึกษาตอนปลาย ปีการศึกษา 2560 โดยการสุ่ม กลุ่มตัวอย่างทั้งหมด 797 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ ได้แก่ แบบวัดการรู้ทางการเมือง เป็นแบบวัดหลายตัวเลือก ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ใช้สถิติเชิงบรรยาย การวิเคราะห์ค่าความเที่ยง การทดสอบค่าที และการวิเคราะห์ตัวประกอบเชิงยืนยัน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1. ผลการศึกษาองค์ประกอบการรู้ทางการเมืองของนักเรียนระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนปลาย พบว่า มี 3 องค์ประกอบ ได้แก่ ความรู้ทางการเมือง ทักษะทางการเมือง และเจตคติทางการเมือง 2. ผลการวิเคราะห์ค่าความเที่ยงของแบบวัดการรู้ทางการเมืองของนักเรียนระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาตอนปลาย พบว่ามีค่าความเที่ยงเท่ากับ 0.82 ผลการตรวจสอบความตรงของโมเดลพบว่าโมเดลสอดคล้องกับข้อมูลเชิงประจักษ์ โดยมีค่า Chi-square = 108.24, df =83, p = .53, GFI = .98, AGFI = .96 RMR = .03, และ RMSEA = .02 3. ผลจากการทดสอบความแตกต่างค่าเฉลี่ยของคะแนนการรู้ทางการเมือง ของนักเรียนของโรงเรียนสาธิตฯ มีค่าเฉลี่ยการรู้ทางการเมืองด้านทักษะสูงที่สุด 5.93 ค่าเฉลี่ยด้านความรู้ 5.65 และค่าเฉลี่ยด้านเจตคติ 5.61 นักเรียนของโรงเรียนในสังกัด สพฐ. มีค่าเฉลี่ยการรู้ทางการเมืองด้านทักษะสูงที่สุด 4.75 ค่าเฉลี่ยด้านเจตคติ 4.34 และค่าเฉลี่ยด้านความรู้ 4.18 พบว่า นักเรียนของโรงเรียนสาธิตฯ มีค่าเฉลี่ยการรู้ทางการเมืองทุกด้านสูงกว่านักเรียนโรงเรียนในสังกัด สพฐ. อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ 1) ศึกษาสภาพการประเมินคุณภาพภายในและการใช้ผลการประเมินคุณภาพภายในพัฒนาคุณภาพการศึกษาของสถานศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐาน 2) พัฒนาระบบการประเมินคุณภาพภายในที่เน้นการนำผลไปใช้พัฒนาคุณภาพการศึกษาของสถานศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐานโดยการประยุกต์ใช้การประเมินแบบเสริมพลัง 3) ทดลองใช้และประเมินคุณภาพของระบบการประเมินคุณภาพภายในที่เน้นการนำผลไปใช้พัฒนาคุณภาพการศึกษาของสถานศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐานโดยการประยุกต์ใช้การประเมินแบบเสริมพลัง ผู้ให้ข้อมูล ประกอบด้วย ผู้บริหารสถานศึกษา และครู จำนวน 55 คน รองผู้อำนวยการสำนักงานเขตพื้นที่การศึกษาและศึกษานิเทศก์ จำนวน 5 คน และผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการประเมินและการประกันคุณภาพการศึกษาสำหรับการสนทนากลุ่ม จำนวน 8 คน ใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยและพัฒนาทั้งการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพและเชิงปริมาณ เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ประกอบด้วย แบบสัมภาษณ์ แบบประเมินความต้องการจำเป็น แนวคำถามในการสนทนากลุ่ม แบบประเมินคุณภาพของระบบ แบบประเมินคุณภาพของหลักสูตรอบรม แบบทดสอบความรู้และมโนทัศน์ในการประเมิน และแบบสำรวจรายการพฤติกรรมตามหลักการประเมินแบบเสริมพลัง วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพโดยการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณโดยใช้สถิติเชิงบรรยาย การทดสอบทีและใช้เทคนิค PNImodified ในการจัดอันดับความต้องการจำเป็น ผลการวิจัยสรุปได้ดังนี้ 1. สภาพการประเมินคุณภาพภายในและใช้ผลการประเมิน พบว่าการประเมินคุณภาพภายในเป็นหน้าที่หลักของผู้บริหารสถานศึกษาและครูวิชาการหรือครูผู้รับผิดชอบหลักงานประกันคุณภาพภายใน โดยมีคำสั่งแต่งตั้งผู้รับผิดชอบเก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยใช้แบบบันทึกข้อมูล และจัดทำรายงานประเมินตนเอง (SAR) ทุกปี สถานศึกษามุ่งเน้นใช้ผลการประเมินมาตรฐานที่ 1 ประเด็นพิจารณาพัฒนาการจากผลการสอบระดับชาติ และมีความต้องการจำเป็นที่จะพัฒนาเรื่องการจัดทำรายงานการประเมินคุณภาพภายในที่อำนวยความสะดวกในการใช้ผลและการสร้างความเข้าใจความตระหนักในการใช้ผลการประเมินคุณภาพภายใน สภาพปัญหาที่สำคัญ คือ การประเมินคุณภาพภายในต้องใช้เวลามากเนื่องจากผู้เกี่ยวข้องให้ข้อมูลล่าช้า 2. ระบบการประเมินคุณภาพภายในที่เน้นการนำผลไปใช้ในการพัฒนาคุณภาพการศึกษามีองค์ประกอบที่สัมพันธ์กันคือ วัตถุประสงค์ หลักการ การดำเนินการประเมินแบบเสริมพลังโดยทีมนิเทศ และกลไกการทำงานของระบบ ซึ่งประกอบด้วย 1) ปัจจัยนำเข้า 2) กระบวนการ 3) ผลผลิต และ 4) ข้อมูลป้อนกลับ และผลการตรวจสอบคุณภาพของระบบการประเมินคุณภาพภายในที่เน้นการนำผลไปใช้พัฒนาคุณภาพการศึกษาโดยผู้เชี่ยวชาญ พบว่า ระบบการประเมินคุณภาพภายในมีคุณภาพด้านความมีประโยชน์ ด้านความเป็นไปได้ และด้านความเหมาะสมในระดับมาก ส่วนด้านความถูกต้องอยู่ในระดับมากที่สุด 3. ผลการทดลองใช้ระบบการประเมินคุณภาพภายในที่เน้นการนำผลไปใช้พัฒนาคุณภาพการศึกษา พบว่า ผู้บริหารสถานศึกษาและครูมีความรู้ในการประเมินหลังการอบรมสัมมนาสูงกว่าก่อนอบรม มีมโนทัศน์สูงกว่าคะแนนเป้าหมายที่วางไว้อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 มีความพึงพอใจในการอบรมอยู่ในระดับมาก มีพฤติกรรม 10 หลักการตามแนวทางการประเมินแบบเสริมพลังสูงขึ้น และผลการปฏิบัติการใช้ผลการประเมินคุณภาพภายในอยู่ในระดับมาก และสถานศึกษามีผลการประเมินคุณภาพภายในตามมาตรฐานการศึกษาขั้นพื้นฐานอยู่ในระดับดีเยี่ยม มีบางประเด็นพิจารณาอยู่ในระดับดี 4. ผลการประเมินคุณภาพของระบบการประเมินคุณภาพภายในที่เน้นการนำผลการประเมินไปใช้พัฒนาคุณภาพการศึกษา โดยผู้ทดลองใช้ระบบดังนี้ โดยทีมนิเทศ ผู้บริหารสถานศึกษาและครูโรงเรียนขนาดกลาง และขนาดใหญ่ แสดงให้เห็นว่า ระบบมีคุณภาพด้านความมีประโยชน์ ด้านความเป็นไปได้ ด้านความเหมาะสม และด้านความถูกต้อง อยู่ในระดับมากที่สุด และโดยผู้บริหารสถานศึกษาและครูโรงเรียนขนาดเล็ก …

The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA, 2005) requires states, through local school boards, to provide students with disabilities with a free appropriate public education (FAPE) in the least restrictive environment consistent with the content of their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). As important as it is to educate students with disabilities, the cost of serving these children is much higher than that of their peers in regular education.

This article presents a content analysis of the 2013 School Leadership Program (SLP) grants. SLP projects provide a unique opportunity for participants in the field to explore innovative leadership preparation and development and their impact on program participants, schools, school districts, and students. The article begins with an overview of the SLP, the changing field of leadership preparation, and current research in the field. Findings then reveal a range of evaluation tools, methods, and data, the presence of myriad evaluators participating in the projects, and little focus on external dissemination of program evaluation methods beyond the scope of the projects. …

The purpose of this study was to create and test two series of predictive models aimed at projecting high school graduation status. Secondary data were obtained in partnership with an urban school district. All of the predictor variables included in the models tested in this study were academic and nonacademic variables that were found to be significant predictors of high school graduation in previous empirical work. In the first series of models tested, individual academic and nonacademic variables were tested together along with school-level variables. For more than a decade, researchers have concluded that immigrant parents face several barriers to becoming involved in their children’s education. All studies agree that language and cultural differences are the most significant barriers to immigrants’ involvement in their children’s education, yet we know little about what these cultural differences are and how these cultural differences influence the school involvement of immigrant parents. This study integrates theories of cultural differences, acculturation, and culture shock and the corresponding literature to investigate the lesser involvement of immigrant parents in school-related activities.

The popular definition of resilience is the capacity to quickly recover from difficulties and setbacks. The term is often misunderstood for a type of sturdy individualism that some people possess more than others or the immunity from stress and negative emotions. The authors used a nonexperimental descriptive design to examine the prevalence of distance supervision in counselor education programs, educational technology used in supervision, training on technology in supervision, and participants' (N = 673) perceptions of legal and ethical compliance. We reviewed fundamental conceptual issues and the state of research on the definition and assessment of implicit theories. We grappled with the following controversies related to the construct: (a) Are entity theory and incremental theory opposite ends of the same continuum? (b) How can scholars use more sophisticated methodologies to classify individuals into either the entity or incremental theory? (c) Given shifting conceptions of what intelligence is, how can scholars refine the implicit theory of intelligence construct? Language sample analysis (LSA) provides a non-standardized, culturally sensitive method of language assessment and is considered a best practice by the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). One type of LSA is the elicitation and analysis of children’s written narratives. Narratives, one type of language discourse, either fictional or personal, can be thought of as stories.

Across the literature, there are differences in the types and clinical implications of the individual types of discourse and narratives.
