It is the purpose of this study to administer five commonly used tests and evaluate them according to ease of administration and the value of the information received. Because this study is to be essentially exploratory in nature, and not experimental, the evaluation of the tests will be largely subjective and will attempt to compare factors involving the administration of the tests to the child, the check sheets used to record information, and the adequacy of the information resulting from the administration of the various tests.

A Study Of Problems Preventing The Implementation Of Programs For The Educable Mentally Retarded In Utah, John L. Beitia

The purposes of the study were to determine the level of priority of importance of administrative problem areas and specific problem items preventing the implementation of special programs for the educable mentally retarded in Utah. The study was conducted using a survey of twenty-seven school districts in the state of Utah lacking a sequential program for the educable mentally retarded in grades one through six.
A questionnaire was sent to 184 selected respondents, including school board chairmen, superintendents, and elementary principals. Responses were received from 92 percent of the original selection. The respondent was asked to rank each of the …

Our culture presents many barriers that prevent women from using their intellect for the greatest good. As counselors, we need to begin freeing ourselves from the limits of narrow and inappropriately differentiated masculine and feminine roles. An awareness of the reasons for and the extent of these prejudices will help to understand ourselves and thus the people with whom we work. Through understanding the pressures of our society on the jobs we do, we can gain knowledge enabling us to use more of our intellectual resources and thus to plan better for today while looking to the future.

This paper will attempt to provide a handbook of physical education activities suitable for asthmatic children and rheumatic heart pupils in a first or second grade public school environment where the ratio of such handicapped is a definite minority. Recognition of the need for special education for school children with speech handicaps was first made in Potsdam, Germany, in 1896. Twelve years later in 1908 the first public school class in speech correction in the United States was organized in New York City, Programs of speech and hearing re-education in the public schools of the United States have expanded from this single metropolitan system in 1908 to a nation-wide effort in little more than fifty years.
