UKBG – Irish Branch Bartenders Newsletter captured the many social and professional practice events, awards, new drinks and hotels services launched, significant bar and cocktail industry people and their contributions plus the many community activities which the bartenders and members of the United Kingdom Bartenders Association (UKBG) – Irish Branch successfully completed up the period of 1948. These events include the earliest cocktail competitions held in Ireland, the famous bartenders and the equally famous locations where they worked. It is always pleasant to have a morning to spend in Dublin. There are so many things to do and see that your only trouble will be to choose between them. The morning's tour suggested here has Guinness's Brewery at St. James's Gate as its objective, and gives an opportunity of seeing several other places of interest on the way. The route is marked in green on the map which follows.

This menu for lunch on the 14th. April 1912 is the day before the ship sank (15th. April 1912). The Titanic was considered the largest ship afloat at the time and was built in the Harland and Wolff Shipyard in Belfast. The ship left Southampton (England) on the 10th. of April. On the 14th. April, 1912 four days into the crossing and about 375 miles south of Newfoundland, she hit an iceberg at 11.40pm ship's time. By 2.20am the ship foundered and broke apart with about 1000 people still on board (these were mostly men as the protocol of women …
