The tourism industry continues to be touted as the main income and employment generator for Caribbean nations. In the Dominican Republic (DR), international tourism has become one of the largest industries and is a major contributor to the country’s economic growth. A recent trend in the DR is the development of luxurious residential resort complexes and private resort cities, mainly designed and created for foreign ownership. The purpose of this study is to assess the feasibility of implementing a state lottery in Nevada and to present the benefits of a state lottery for both the Nevada hospitality industry and the Nevada economy. It will compare and contrast the arguments for and the arguments against a lottery by executing a content analysis of existing research literature as well as other relevant publications. It will also examine the history of lotteries, the states that border Nevada and have lotteries and the legislative history of lottery proposals in Nevada.

This report examines the uses of the Greater Yellowstone MapGuide (both the printed and website versions) and how this tool has influenced those who use it. The Greater Yellowstone MapGuide appears to be a tool that is influencing visitors to the area in many ways. The MapGuide appears to influence where they stay, where they drive, and the activities in which they participate. The findings of this study suggest that the Geotourism concept, as portrayed by the MapGuide, is a successful tool in visitor management.
