Assessing The Influence Of The Electronic Levy On Consumer Purchasing Behaviour In The Ghanaian E-Commerce Sector, Jefferson Sigfred Seyeram Bansa, David Asumadu - Boateng, Harry Adjetey Ashong, Rubby Aku Ameh

African Conference on Information Systems and Technology

This study examines the influence of Ghana’s Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy) on consumer purchasing behaviour within the country’s emerging e-commerce ecosystem. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 15 consumers in Accra and Kumasi to explore how the levy affected their trust in digital platforms, transaction patterns, and engagement with e-commerce. Thematic analysis revealed four major findings: reduced frequency of online purchases, strategic avoidance of mobile money and other taxed platforms, restructuring of transactions to minimize costs, and a growing mistrust of digital systems fueled by misinformation and lack of policy clarity. The Examiniation Of Entrepreneurial Investment Tax Credits: Angel Vs. Crowdfunding Investing, Laura Barthel

PhD in Business Administration Dissertations

Equity-investment credits are prevalent in the United States and other countries (Bell and Woodmansee, 2016), yet little evidence exists about the effectiveness of these credits at incentivizing individuals to invest. The intent of these credits is to spur entrepreneurial activity and in turn economic development (Acs, Asterbro, Audretsch, and Robinson, 2016; Bell, Wilbanks, and Hendon, 2013; Erken, Donselaar, and Thurik, 2016). The current study experimentally tests the influence of a tax credit on an individual’s likelihood to invest in startups across two risk settings, which parallel Angel and Crowdfunding investing methods.

The study finds an equity-investment tax credit is effective …

Public Finance And Tax Equity In The Arabian Gulf Monarchies, Timothy Mathews

Journal of Global Initiatives: Policy, Pedagogy, Perspective

This study examines notions of public finance equity in the six Arabian Gulf monarchies of Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates. Consequently, four innovative notions of equity are reviewed and discussed: Within Group Horizontal Equity; Within Group Vertical Equity; Favored Group Horizontal Equity; and Favored Group Vertical Equity. Finally, these four conceptions of equity are applied to a …

Oil And Gas Financial Reporting Using The Usgaap Xbrl Taxonomy, Tim Mahon, Ernest Capozzoli

Faculty Articles

The Oil and Gas industry has very unique requirements in reporting oil and gas producing activities. Because of these unique requirements, it has been difficult to compare Oil and Gas companies over the years. The current XBRL US taxonomy includes standardized Oil and Gas disclosures. This paper will introduce the requirements Oil and Gas companies are to follow when reporting their financial information. Also, an analysis of the U. S. GAAP taxonomy was done by tagging Anadarko’s 2006 financial statements1. The analysis was to determine if the taxonomy includes elements for each of these requirements. Finally, conclusions of the analysis …

A History Of Revenue Forecasts, Mark Rider

Faculty Articles

Feenberg et al. (1989) apply a simple regression-based method to test the rationality of state revenue forecasts. Using the same regression-based methodology, we test the rationality of federal revenue forecasts for fiscal year 1802 through 2001. We find that Treasury forecasts of federal revenues satisfy the conditions of weak rationality.

Faculty Articles

A survey of 1,003 businesses examined the effect of estate taxes on family business behavior, including investment, employment, and strategic decisions. The results strongly suggest that estate taxes have marked effects on business behavior. These effects are more pronounced in larger firms where their potential impact is of a greater magnitude.
