For the first time in history, estimates of the overweight people in the world rival estimates of those malnourished. The World Health Organization (WHO, 2002) ranked obesity among the top 10 risks to human health worldwide. In the early 1960s, nearly half of the Americans were overweight and 13% were obese. Today some 64% of U.S. adults are overweight and 30.5% are obese. Even more alarming, twice as many U.S. children are overweight than were twenty years ago, a 66% increase. This paper examine the Federal Government policy on direct payment system of tax through designated Nigerian Banks. The main objective of the scheme is to improve the administration of taxation in Nigeria by making it more convenient to tax payers in terms of time saving, reducing the incidence of fraud which has, over the years, depraved Government of needed revenues, minimizing the risk of carrying cash, providing transparency and -improved accountability, and of course, enhancing revenue yield substantially.

The Effect Of Estate Taxes On Family Business: Survey Results, Joseph H. Astrachan, Roger Tutterow

A survey of 1,003 businesses examined the effect of estate taxes on family business behavior, including investment, employment, and strategic decisions. The results strongly suggest that estate taxes have marked effects on business behavior. These effects are more pronounced in larger firms where their potential impact is of a greater magnitude.
