Top Management Team (Tmt) Demographic Characteristics, Remuneration And Esg Performance In China, Liu Huajie
Student Works (2020-2029)
Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance has emerged as more prominent in the contemporary business environment, serving as a non-financial key performance indicator besides classical financial indicators. Among the factors influencing ESG performance, the top management team (TMT) demographic characteristics have become an important determinant. Drawing on Upper Echelons Theory (UET), this study explores how the demographic characteristics of the top management team, specifically diversity in gender, age, and functional background, as well as the degree of professionalism indicated by the level of educational background influence firm ESG performance. Furthermore, it examines the moderating effect of TMT remuneration on these …

Using fixed-effects regression analysis based on 6,763 firm-year observations from 2015 to 2023. The empirical results indicate that digital transformation improves ESG performance by fostering green innovation, which in turn partially mediates this effect. These findings provide theoretical insights on how digital capabilities drive corporate sustainability and offer practical …
Digital Technology Adoption And Esg Performance In Malaysia: The Role Of Board And Top Management Team, Qin Yue
Student Works (2020-2029)
Against the backdrop of advancing global sustainable development, corporate environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance has become a key indicator of firms’ long-term sustainability and value creation. As digital transformation accelerates, leveraging digital technologies to enhance ESG performance has become a critical issue for both academia and practice. Integrating Information Asymmetry Theory and Resource Dependence Theory, this study establishes an analytical framework and empirically examines the impact of digital technology adoption on corporate ESG performance. Using a sample of non-technology listed firms in Malaysia from 2018 to 2023, this research employs a fixed-effects model. The study also investigates the moderating …
Environmental And Social Strategies, And Sustainable Performance: The Mediating Role Of Management Control Systems, Zheng Siqi
Student Works (2020-2029)
This study investigates how environmental and social (E&S) strategies influence enterprise sustainability performance (SP), with a focus on the mediating roles of Environmental Management Control Systems (EMCS) and Social Management Control Systems (SMCS). Anchored in the Resource-Based View (RBV), the study conceptualizes E&S strategies, EMCS, and SMCS as internal organizational resources that support the implementation of sustainability-related strategic intent. Although Chinese manufacturing enterprises face increasing regulatory and societal expectations regarding environmental and social responsibilities, prior research has primarily examined the direct association between sustainability strategies and performance outcomes or has treated sustainability control systems as aggregated constructs, providing comparatively less …

The Usage Of Human Resources Management Information System (Hrmis) In The Malaysian Armed Forces: Empirical Evidence In A Military Setting, Mohd Azmi Arifin
Student Works (2020-2029)
The use of information and communication technology (ICT) among individuals and organisations is growing in accordance with technology invention, innovation and consumer needs. Like other organisations, the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) are not left behind to adopt technology in its management and operations. In the individual context, the use of technology can enhance the performance and quality of MAF’s personnel work. However, the BADSA’s report in 2017 found that the use of HRMIS was not optimal in the MAF. Only 32.4 per cent of the 37 units that were audited had used the system. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate …

Task Performance And Adaptive Performance In Royal Service Corps: Role Of Individual Ambidexterity And Extent Of Change, Muhamad Fadzly Abd Kadir
Student Works (2020-2029)
The Revolution in Military Logistics has impacted military logistics business processes. It requires logisticians to adapt to changes and perform their tasks. However, it also resulted in inconsistent performance of employees. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between individual and situational factors and individual work performance of logisticians at the Royal Service Corps of the Malaysian Army. Individual factors (i.e. openness to experience and social intelligence) and a situational factor (i.e. workplace relationship) are the independent variables. Individual ambidexterity acts as a mediating variable, and the extent of change acts as a moderating factor. The dependent …

Csr, Corporate Reputation And Financial Performance Of Islamic Banks In Malaysia: Stakeholders’ Perceptions, Mohd Sofian Fatimah Noor Rashidah
Student Works (2020-2029)
A review of the extant literature established that the Islamic financial services industry (IFSI) needs to sustain its growth momentum. This is due to the downfall of the world’s largest banks in 2008, which has shaken the global financial industry. Besides, external challenges emerging in the global financial industry have affected the performance of Islamic banks in Malaysia. To overcome such problems, existing reports and several authors have suggested that Islamic banks should get involved in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities and disclose such activities in the annual reports. It is argued that corporate social responsibility disclosure (CSRD) can increase …

Role Of Technological Capability On Firm Performance Among Palm Oil Mills In Malaysia, Parvand Sima
Student Works (2020-2029)
In spite of its strong economic performance since the 1970s, oil palm mills in Malaysia has faced low technological upgrading. Although the import of capital goods has acted as an effective channel for technology transfer (TT), the lack of strong firm-level in-house upgrading and the presence of barriers has affected mill efficiency levels. Hence, this thesis seeks to examine how firm-level technological capability development (TC) has impacted on firm performance. A quantitative research design using simple random sampling procedure was deployed to gather responses from 54 palm oil mills in Malaysia. The multiple regression analyses revealed that innovation strategy, TT, …

The …
