These stores will be some of the first legal dispensaries in NYS and owned by those once arrested for cannabis-- and their families. This capstone is a photo essay on the experiences of NYS's dispensary licenses applicants as they make their bid to be one of the first legal dispensaries in the state. The priority was to give those who've been arrested for cannabis a chance to benefit from their conviction. Photography, print, and videography were incorporated in this project.

“Credit disaster” explains how inconsistent reporting to credit bureaus in the wake of natural disasters reduces victims’ credit access. It explores how the low rate of credit suppression on products from mortgages to auto loans can delay recovery indefinitely. Regulatory changes have been proposed, but there is little incentive for lenders or credit bureaus to change the current system.

The storied neighborhood of Sheepshead Bay, which sits on the southern tip of Brooklyn, is named after a fish that once inhabited the waters surrounding the town. Like the Sheepshead fish, the community's once booming fishing industry might soon be wiped out due to increasing regulations. Despite complaints from local fishermen, government agencies have taken their stand.

Small businesses on Long Island have been suffering due to a variety of reasons including taxes and regulations on small businesses. Despite this, one entrepreneur, Howie Frank, has decided to fight back and start a small business that is only open for six months out of the year: Everything Christmas. He cashes in on the most profitable time of the retail season, and has since grown his company in the past eight years to four locations and four franchise locations. His intent is to continue this expand this business which he dedicates all of his time to, year round.

They are becoming popular way for immigrant women to gain economic independence and become entrepreneurs.
