(August 10, 2023) — East Tennessee State University’s Center for Applied Research and Evaluation (CARE) in Women’s Health was recently awarded two separate grants to research child and maternal health outcomes as well as the intersection of postpartum contraception and infant feeding throughout Western North Carolina.

The Reece Museum, in collaboration with the Archives of Appalachia and Bristol Ballet, present “Ballet in Appalachia: 75 Years with Bristol Ballet.”

This new Tennessee Music Pathways exhibition is now open to the public through June 2024. A reception is Thursday, Aug. 10, from 5-7 p.m.

Ballet in Appalachia is a historical retrospective of one of the oldest arts institutions in the Tri-Cities.

This paper investigates the impact of secondary ranking factors on webpage relevance and rankings in the context of Search Engine Optimization (SEO), focusing on the jewelry domain within the United States e-commerce market. By generating a keyword list related to jewelry and retrieving top URLs from Google's search results, the study employs machine learning models including XGBoost, CatBoost, and Linear Regression to identify key features influencing webpage relevance and rankings.The findings highlight specific optimal ranges for features like Outlinks, Unique Inlinks, Flesch Reading Ease Score, and others, indicating their significant impact on better rankings. On Oct. 8, the George L. Carter Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society and East Tennessee State University’s George L. Carter Railroad Museum will sponsor a trip that features stops in the Great Smoky Mountains and western North Carolina.

The route will travel the banks of the Little Tennessee and Nantahala Rivers, crossing the Fontana Lake Trestle that stands 100 feet above the lake.

A range of experts have declared that crisis behind us, and are now examining what precisely caused this catastrophe.

(Aug. 2, 2023) Expectant mothers and those who have recently delivered a child have better access to medical breastfeeding assistance thanks to new TennCare coverage brought about through the efforts of an ETSU Health provider.  

ETSU Health’s Director of Lactation Services, Gloria Dudney, successfully petitioned the state to cover lactation consultations through TennCare Medicaid, CoverKids and TennCareSelect, effective June 1, 2023. Patients of these programs may now receive medically appropriate outpatient services from in-network providers during pregnancy and through the extended postpartum period.

Sales researchers have recognized the importance of salesperson social media use in enhancing job outcomes. However, research that considers the influence of salesperson personal factors and the individual's work environment on the impact of social media use on such outcomes (i.e., job satisfaction and salesperson performance) remains neglected in the literature. Leveraging Job-Demand Resource (JD-R) theory, we develop a model that introduces linkages between salesperson social media use, task adaptivity, technology self-efficacy, manager trust, job autonomy, job satisfaction, and salesperson performance.
