Young Singles: A Look At The Grocery Shopping Preferences Of A Unique And Underestimated Market, Survey & Analysis, Kelley Steinhofer
Honors Theses
Single person households make up a substantial percentage of the total U.S population. More than 102 million people aged 15 and over were not married in 2003. On a household basis, 48.5% of U.S. households were not headed by married couples. Some of these households are "nonfamily" which excludes single parent households according to U.S. Census Bureau definitions. Most studies that examine a specific demographic group have focused on households with children and mature consumers because their purchasing behaviors are highly predictable and easily obtainable. Very little research currently exists on the market of young, single adult consumers. This study …

The Role Of Interfunctional Market Orientation In New Product Program Success: An Exploratory Empirical Analysis, George Grady Gresham
Theses and Dissertations in Business Administration
A central tenet of the market orientation construct is the need for virtually all departments, not just the marketing department, to participate in gathering, disseminating and responding to market intelligence. Previous academic research provides empirical support for a positive relationship between market orientation and superior business performance. Superior business performance, for many firms, depends upon a continuous stream of new products emerging from their product development programs, yet few studies have demonstrated the link between market orientation and new product development program success. This dissertation conceptualizes market orientation below the strategic business level as interfunctional market orientation (IFMO) for cross-functional …

A Consumer-Behavior Perspective On Intimate Partner Violence, Debra Lynn Stephens, Ronald Paul Hill, James W. Gentry
Department of Marketing: Faculty Publications
This research examines women’s experiences of and responses to intimate partner violence using the perspective of the extended self. From in-depth interviews with a demographically diverse group of women in the United States, the primary theme to emerge was that chronic abuse is experienced as the male partner’s ongoing campaign to incorporate the abused woman into his extended self, by appropriating or destroying the aspects of her that give her autonomy. The most important implication for agencies serving abused women is that many of their clients are faced with the daunting task of repairing or reconstructing their core and extended …

Despite the intensifying challenges of a dynamic grocery market he was well satisfied with the success of the Group’s three supermarkets. The three stores, owned by Luke Moriarty, operate under the aegis of the Musgrave Group of independent SuperValu retailers. These independent retailers had not only survived Tesco’s arrival in Ireland, but the group as a whole had grown market share.

Having spent several years in New York with the advertising agency McCann Erickson, Muirne had joined RTE to head up its commercial activities division some 18 months previously. With the reorganisation, some of these activities had been moved. Thus, for example, TV programme sales became part of the TV division to ensure that issues involved in programme sales were incorporated into programme planning at an early stage.
