The Class of 2023 at East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy received their doctoral hoods this morning, officially becoming part of the college’s 14th graduating class.
The Hooding and Commencement ceremony was held in the ETSU Martin Center for the Arts, where 66 student pharmacists earned the Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
This ceremony, which was live-streamed at youtube.com/@etsupharmacy for those unable to attend, was part of ETSU’s commencement weekend.
Dr. Debbie Byrd, dean of ETSU Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy, thanked the graduating class for the mark they left on the college.

JOHNSON CITY – East Tennessee State University’s Center of Excellence for Appalachian Studies and Services has received a nearly $50,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) to begin developing an online, open-access version of its acclaimed Encyclopedia of Appalachia.
The grant is part of $35 million in NEH grants awarded to 258 humanities projects across the country and is one of only five awarded in Tennessee. Dr. Ron Roach, director of the Center, will lead the project and serve as a general editor.

Scholarly literature has been mostly silent on the personal experiences of those who suffer from this condition, known as PCOS.

JOHNSON CITY – East Tennessee State University’s Entrepreneurship Program is partnering with FoundersForge, a leading local entrepreneur center, and the Johnson City Chamber of Commerce, to host the inaugural High School Entrepreneur’s Boot Camp. This four-day summer camp runs June 26-29, and is open to students in grades 8-12, including home-schooled students at the equivalent grade level.

Known for more than 20 years as the Millennium Center, the Brinkley Center is named in memory of benefactors James and Nellie Brinkley. The late James Brinkley attended University School on the (then) East Tennessee State College campus. It was there where he first met his future wife, Nellie.

On a distant corner of rural Washington County, ETSU public health students are learning how to make brick in order to help construct homes in isolated communities around the world.
