JOHNSON CITY (March 27, 2020) – East Tennessee State University’s College of Nursing was ranked 11^th among the top accredited online nursing programs and schools in the country by Learn.org.

The list included the top 50 online nursing programs and schools according to Learn.org. ETSU was the only institution in Tennessee listed in in the top 20.

JOHNSON CITY (March 25, 2020) – Beginning next week, ETSU Health is bringing medical care closer to home for its patients by offering telemedicine appointments. Telemedicine is the use of electronic audio and video communication to provide remote health care services to patients.

“ETSU Health has partnered with VisuWell, a telehealth company, to provide patients access to our health care team using a web-based portal,” said Dr. Timothy Canavan, a professor at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine and chair of the Department of OB/GYN.

JOHNSON CITY (March 25, 2020) – Health care workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 outbreak need personal protective equipment to reduce exposure and limit spread of the disease. East Tennessee State University and community partners are addressing the shortage of medical equipment by developing and manufacturing face shields.

In March, Gov. Bill Lee and the Tennessee Higher Education Commission requested assistance in meeting the increased demand for face shields. JOHNSON CITY (March 20, 2020) – The Class of 2020 at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine found out today where they were matched for their residencies upon their upcoming graduation.

Like the majority of medical schools across the country, Quillen College of Medicine cancelled its traditional match day celebration held for students and their families due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the students took part in an alternate match day experience, receiving an email with the results of the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) at noon today.

Researchers study impact of modified keto diet on diabetes

JOHNSON CITY (March 18, 2020) – Three faculty members from East Tennessee State University recently received a grant to study the impact of a modified ketogenic diet on individuals with Type 2 diabetes.

JOHNSON CITY (March 12, 2020) – East Tennessee State University’s Dr. Gerardo Arceo-Gomez is taking his research on the organization of flowering plant communities a step further with the aid of a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF).

The project, titled “Uncovering the mechanisms driving co-flowering community assembly: Integrating flowering and floral trait distribution patterns via a novel use of network analysis,” has been funded for a three-year grant totaling $699,700.

The top-seeded Buccaneers defeated the seventh-seeded Wofford  Terriers 72-58 in Monday’s Southern Conference Championship at the Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville. The Bucs became the fourth team in the 100-year history of the SoCon to reach the 30-win mark after improving to 30-4 on the season. The Blue and Gold join Wofford (30-5, 2018-19), North Carolina (30-5, 1945-46) and North Carolina State (30-7, 1950-51) as the only teams to accomplish the feat.
