A donor at ETSU's first drive-through medical supply collection drive drops off supplies in the bin. Donors do not need to exit their vehicles at the no-contact collection site on the first floor of ETSU's parking garage. JOHNSON CITY (April 14, 2020) – East Tennessee State University is expanding early admission opportunities for ETSU undergraduates who want to attend Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy.
The university recently approved a new 3+1 degree completion program for biology and chemistry majors in the College of Arts and Sciences and health sciences majors in the College of Public Health.
The 3+1 program allows students in these majors to matriculate after three years to Gatton College of Pharmacy, if accepted, and complete their Bachelor of Science in their respective majors after successful completion of their first year in the PharmD program. …

Research consultations are a valuable service offered by academic libraries for students who are able to visit the library, however, many students enrolled in online degree programs or considering enrollment have limited access to campus services. We designed and tested a virtual reference consultation service for distance learners and graduate students. This interactive poster outlines a practical approach for designing and initiating a virtual research consultation service to offer equitable access to library services and a positive user experience for distance learners.

JOHNSON CITY (April 13, 2020) – The East Tennessee State University Department of Media and Communication is offering its students the opportunity to train and test in five Adobe Creative Cloud programs while social distancing and working from home.
Students choose one or two programs to study – Photoshop, InDesign, Premiere Pro, Illustrator and/or After Effects – and then take the Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) exam. JOHNSON CITY (April 13, 2020) – East Tennessee State University’s Tipton Gallery and Slocumb Galleries have earned two awards in the 2020 Tennessee Association of Museums (TAM) Awards of Excellence competition for a series of exhibits highlighting diversity.
The honors, which were presented in the budget category of $50,000-$200,000, were the Award of Excellence for Temporary Exhibit and the Award of Commendation for Publication, Book/Catalog/Annual Report.

JOHNSON CITY (April 9, 2020) – East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy has ranked first in the state for its Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) residency match rate, as well as 12th in the nation.
In total, nearly of half of the Class of 2020, 32 students, participated in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) match program for PGY1 positions, and 25 (78%) successfully matched.

JOHNSON CITY (April 2, 2020) – The Gray Fossil Site in Gray, Tennessee, is famous for preserving the remains of a 5-million-year-old Appalachian ecosystem. Not only do these fossils include a variety of ancient animals like rhinos, mastodons and pandas, they also include a forest’s worth of ancient plants. And that list of plants is now a bit longer thanks to a pair of recent studies identifying two extinct Gray Fossil Site plant species that are entirely new to science.

JOHNSON CITY (April 2, 2020) — During a called meeting of East Tennessee State University’s Board of Trustees Finance and Administration Committee on Wednesday, a motion was passed to not increase tuition and mandatory fees for the 2020-21 academic year contingent on the approval of the Governor’s budget. When ETSU Health turned its attention to setting up a drive-through testing site to increase the availability of COVID-19 testing in the region in mid-March, Dr. Kevin Breuel and his laboratory team at ETSU Clinical Labs (ECL) played a pivotal role in making it happen.
By working with outside reference labs, they were able to ensure that ETSU Health would get enough test collection kits to provide this vital service to the community. They also worked closely with the COVID leadership team to monitor and decrease turnaround time for test results.
