JOHNSON CITY (Aug. 26, 2020) – East Tennessee State University received one of seven Rural Health Research Center grants, awarded by the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA), Federal Office of Rural Health Policy, to create the Rural Health Equity Research Center.
The $2.77 million award, which ETSU won in collaboration with the NORC Walsh Center for Rural Health Analysis, part of NORC at the University of Chicago, spans four years.

However, I realize that for each individual I see on campus, there are even more students, faculty and staff engaging with our institution remotely. JOHNSON CITY (Aug. 21, 2020) – East Tennessee State University bestowed its highest honors upon three professors today with the presentation of the 2020 Distinguished Faculty Awards for Teaching, Research and Service.
The winners were nominated and selected by their faculty peers. Each received a medallion, a plaque and $5,000 provided by the ETSU Foundation during the annual Faculty Convocation, which marks the beginning of the new academic year and fall semester.

JOHNSON CITY (Aug. 9, 2021) – East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy’s dean earned a national honor for her years of service to the profession of pharmacy.
Dr. Debbie Byrd was awarded the Anne Marie Liles Distinguished Service Award from the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Pharmacy Practice Section.
“This truly is an honor to be recognized by my colleagues, and especially with an award named in memory of Anne Marie Liles,” said Byrd. “Anne Marie was my student then fellow faculty member at Auburn, and she is missed.”

JOHNSON CITY (Aug. 7, 2020) – East Tennessee State University’s College of Arts and Sciences presents its first virtual alumni event, “Dessert with the Experts,” on Tuesday, Aug. 11, at 7 p.m. via Zoom.
During this new event, faculty experts from throughout the College of Arts and Sciences will share their knowledge over dessert with alumni of the college and other participants. For a fun twist, the experts will provide their favorite dessert recipes for participants to make ahead of time and enjoy during the event, or to try later.
