An Analysis Of The Information Requirements Of Conus Based Deputy Commanders For Maintenance, Daniel J. Green
An Analysis Of The Information Requirements Of Conus Based Deputy Commanders For Maintenance, Daniel J. Green
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this research was to identify the information requirements of Air Force Deputy Commanders for Maintenance. It had three basic objectives: (1) identify the critical success factors that they monitor on a continuous basis, (2) identify similarities in those requirements for all DGMs and across major commands, and (3) determine if the application of information technology would enhance their decision making. Surveys were sent to all CONUS based Deputy Commanders for Maintenance. The study found that there were nine critical success factors that were used by a majority of all respondents. In addition, nine command-specific critical success factors …
Improving Royal Australian Air Force Strategic Airlift Planning By Application Of A Computer Based Management Information System, Neil A. Cooper
Improving Royal Australian Air Force Strategic Airlift Planning By Application Of A Computer Based Management Information System, Neil A. Cooper
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this research was to propose a MIS to assist RAAF strategic operational airlift planning. The present manual approach suffers deficiencies in flexibility, consistency and timeliness. Airlift planning was first analysed and found to comprise activities of investigation, detailed static planning, implementation and dynamic planning, and review. Planning performance is measured by the effectiveness and efficiency of resulting airlift. Automation of planning functions was investigated, especially the routing and scheduling of airlift. USAF systems, including ADANS, were reviewed and applicability to the RAAF evaluated. Automation of planning functions was investigated, especially the routing and scheduling of airlift. USAF …

Establishing A Department Of Defense Program Management Body Of Knowledge, Gregory D. Best, Korina L. Kobylarz
Establishing A Department Of Defense Program Management Body Of Knowledge, Gregory D. Best, Korina L. Kobylarz
Theses and Dissertations
This research project developed a common body of knowledge for the field of acquisition program management in the Department of Defense (DoD)., The Defense Program Management Body of Knowledge (DBOK) is a compilation of all knowledge areas that a program manager must know understand to be effective. Three methods were used to develop a hypothetical model DBOK: (1) an exhaustive review of project management literature, (2) curricula review of DoD acquisition management educational institutions, and (3) expert review. The hypothetical model was validated with a survey administered by the Project Management Institute to all directors and deputy directors of Major …

Air Force Information Management (Im): A 1990 Snapshot And 1995 Future Look At Air Force Im Needs And Preferred Education/Training Approaches, Richard T. Mcghee
Theses and Dissertations
This research investigated 37 training topics which were of interest to Air Force (AF) information managers, Air Force Specialty Code 70XX. The topics were grouped into the following seven information resource related clusters; (1) computer operating systems, (2) data communications, (3) Air Force Standard Systems (PDOS, RAMS, and PCIII), (4) information resource management concepts, (5) AF/IM career field issues, (6) computer hardware, and finally, (7) computer software. Twenty-four graduates of the AF Institute of Technology's (AFIT) Information Resource Management program were asked to provide their perceptions of AF information managers (IMs) current (1990) and needed (1995) knowledge/skill levels on each …
Executive Information Systems For Usaf Hospital Administrators: A Feasibility Assessment, Alan R. Constantian
Executive Information Systems For Usaf Hospital Administrators: A Feasibility Assessment, Alan R. Constantian
Theses and Dissertations
This thesis investigated the feasibility of implementing an executive information system (EIS) for hospital administrators at CONUS-based USAF inpatient medical facilities. A literature search determined that successful system implementation would require that such an EIS be found technically, economically, operationally, and motivationally feasible. Failure to meet any of these feasibility factors would jeopardize successful implementation. Surveys were mailed to each of the administrators and medical systems officers of CONUS- based USAF inpatient medical facilities in order to gather data on these feasibility issues. Approximately eighty percent of the survey population of 66 in each group responded to the survey. There …
