The Missing Step To Equality: Feminist Readings Of The Broken Rung, Putri Rizky, Muhammad Irfan Syaebani, Rofikoh Rokhim
International Conference on Business and Management Research (ICBMR)
Women’s underrepresentation in leadership remains a persistent global challenge, often analyzed through the metaphor of the glass ceiling. While this concept highlights barriers at the top of organizational hierarchies, it fails to capture the earlier and more foundational obstacle of the broken rung: women’s disproportionate exclusion from their first promotion into managerial positions. This research employs a desk analysis to examine the causes, mechanisms, and implications of the broken rung within the Indonesian context, linking it to three theoretical frameworks: liberal feminism, symbolic violence, and intersectionality.
The study finds that from a liberal feminist perspective, the broken rung …

International Conference on Business and Management Research (ICBMR)
This study investigates the mechanism through which financial compensation influences turnover intention within Indonesia's Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, with a specific focus on the potential mediating roles of supervisor support, career adaptability, and flexible work arrangements. A quantitative methodology was employed, utilizing a structured questionnaire administered to a random sample of 271 staff-level employees from FMCG companies operating in the Greater Jakarta (Jabodetabek) region. The collected data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with partial least squares (PLS) to test the proposed hypotheses. The results demonstrate that financial compensation exerts a significant negative effect on turnover intention. Furthermore, …

Organizational Policy Initiatives For A Neurodiverse Workforce, Renae Taylor
ATU Scholars Symposium
Neurodivergent individuals make up a significant percentage of the population and yet lag in employment due to employment barriers of the traditional workplace. While the benefits of a diverse workplace are well documented, there is still a large deficit when it comes to neurodiversity equitable access. To attract and retain a neurodiverse workforce, organizations must make changes that align with research-backed methods for policy building and in turn change the organizational leadership focus to a transformational, growth-based framework.
This applied project focuses on organizational policy initiatives that support the neurodivergent employee, with an emphasis on accommodations and modifications, inclusion, and …

Learning and Educational Center Virtual Teaching and Learning Conference
Deeply rooted prejudices and hatred of others based on people’s ethnic backgrounds, disabilities, or religious affiliations are realities of every society. To allow students, faculty, and staff on campus to de-stress by metaphorically destroying experienced hate, the Diversity Student Council of Nova Southeastern University built a “Hate Wall” so everyone can write negative biases they have heard to then dismantle it physically and symbolically. During the day, people wrote comments on the wall, and some were antisemitic regarding the Jewish community. Within a few hours, it turned into a publicity failure while deeply stressing many.
This case study discusses what …

African Conference on Information Systems and Technology
The pandemic's impact on education in Africa, particularly Southern Africa, has been quite severe. This has led to a strong desire to create new educational solutions in response to the crisis. As a result, universities embraced blended learning, leading to a decrease in face-to-face teaching and learning but guaranteeing continuity in learning. Organizational support for women academics is imperative for the effective implementation of blended learning. Due to traditional gender norms, working women continue to bear the primary responsibility of childcare, often facing significantly greater demands on their time and energy than their male counterparts. The purpose of this study …
