The Role Of Brand Credibility And Brand Experience In Post-Consumption Outcomes Of Hotel Choice Among Malaysian Muslim Consumers, Rosli Nadzirah

This research investigates the importance of hotel attributes in examining Malaysian Muslim tourists' hotel choice. Based on the mean-end chain theory, it explores the relationship among nine constructs; hotel attributes, brand credibility, brand experience, brand attachment and post-consumption outcomes which consisted of satisfaction, revisit intention and word-of-mouth, as well as travel motivation and Islamic religiosity. A total of 474 valid and usable self-administered questionnaires were collected through purposive sampling technique. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) approach was deployed to validate the research model and the research hypotheses. This research aims to investigate the job-related ethical beliefs of four - star hotel employees in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The results show that the four­dimensional factors model as suggested by Vitell and Muncy (1992) can explain hotel employees' job-related ethics. The result revealed that employees working in departments, which have direct contact with hotel guests such as Food & Beverage, have higher tolerance for unethical behaviours. Significant differences were observed when analyzing the demographic variables (i.e. sex and education level) with the four factors identified including: no harm; unethical behaviours; actively benefiting; and passively benefiting. Since start of the Asian Economy crisis in 1997, most industries in Malaysia have been experiencing a difficult time. Tourism industry had to face several challenges such as currency fluctuations, negative media reports, stringent government policies, reduced market demands and global competition.
