Investigating The Perceived Impact Of Surgeons' Burnout On Surgical Physician Associates' Wellness In United States Ambulatory Surgery Centers, Rhionna J. Smith, Lihua Dishman, John W. Fick, Kathleen M. Thomas

Patient Experience Journal

Surgeons are the de facto leaders of surgical teams with surgical physician associates (SPAs) as integral members who function in all areas of the peri-operative environment. Surgeons often supervise SPAs. Ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) provide patients with same-day diagnostic and preventive procedures as more convenient alternatives to hospital-based outpatient procedures. This qualitative, national, and cross-sectional study explored the perceived impact of surgeons' burnout on SPAs' wellness in U.S. ASCs during global health crises. Primary demographic and qualitative data were collected using a self-developed, three-section survey instrument: (1) information regarding informed consent; (2) 10 short demographic questions; and (3) two open-ended …

Primary Care Productivity And Patient Satisfaction Community Practice: What Is The Relationship?, Thomas G. Howell Jr.

Patient Experience Journal

Research has shown a consistent positive association between patient and provider experience and improved patient outcomes and safety. There is a belief that patient satisfaction and physician productivity are competing interests. The relationship for primary care physicians, in a Midwest Health system was evaluated as part of this project. Data from Press Ganey patient satisfaction surveys on likelihood of recommending the practice and the physician were compared between primary care physicians in the top quartile of average monthly patient visits and those that were in the three lower quartiles. The Perceived Usefulness Of Patient Narrative Feedback In Primary Care Settings, Sasmira Matta, Yuna S.H. Lee, Rachel Grob, Mark Schlesinger, Ingrid Nembhard

Patient Experience Journal

Research suggests that insights from patient narratives – stories about care experiences in patients' own words – contain information that can be used to improve care. However, assessments of narratives reported by clinical personnel have been mixed. This is the first study, to our knowledge, to systematically measure how useful personnel in primary care perceive patient narratives to be. We surveyed 276 clinical and administrative personnel in nine primary care clinics in a large health system in the United States. We found that perceived usefulness of patient narratives is generally high, but varies by individual characteristics such as level of …

A Commitment To Experience Must Reach Across The Continuum Of Care, Jason A. Wolf Phd Aug 2024

A Commitment To Experience Must Reach Across The Continuum Of Care, Jason A. Wolf Phd

Patient Experience Journal

A conversation on patient experience is not restricted to one care setting, nor should it be. People's healthcare journeys are not singular instances, but most often a series of encounters that while perhaps separate operationally from the delivery side of care, all weave together to frame one experience for a patient, their family members and care partners. This special issue purposefully takes us outside the traditional conversation space for experience, looking at segments of the care continuum including primary care, ambulatory care, free clinics and even dental care and the use of non-traditional care methods such as telehealth and app-based …

This study investigates the influence of leader- and work-related factors, including social support, supervisory feedback, and job stress, on employees’ sense of ownership towards their organization. The Examination Of The Mathematical Calculation On Premium Reserve Modifications For Endowment-Life Insurance Products, Farisa Salwa Fatimah, Debrina Ferezagia, Wira Darmiza

Jurnal Administrasi Bisnis Terapan

Insurance offers numerous advantages in managing the diverse dangers it encounters. The level of compensation provided is contingent upon the magnitude of the premium remitted. A fraction of the premium collected by the company must be allocated as a premium reserve to ensure that the company will not have any challenges in settling future claims. The calculation of premium reserves is performed through the utilization of prospective and retrospective reserve methods, which rely on net premiums as the foundation for the computation. The premium reserve calculation approach employs both the Canadian and Full Preliminary Term methodologies. The objective of this …

Along with the development of technology, the management of correspondence and archives is also growing. Generally, the development of this management is in the form of the emergence of an application that can accommodate the needs of correspondence and archives of a company or institute. Developing Public-Private R&D Consortia To Accelerate Alzheimer’S Disease Drug Development, Joel West, Paul Olk

Management: Faculty Scholarship

Efforts to accelerate Alzheimer's disease (AD) drug development have been spurred on by the creation of open science, public-private R&D consortia. An R&D consortium provides an improved structure for generating and disseminating AD knowledge across a range of organizations while also aligning their interests. Drawing from archival and interview data collected on 46 public-private R&D consortia focused wholly or in part on AD, we uncover two important innovations: the creation of novel consortium types that facilitate coordination beyond the individual consortium, and the practice of organizations joining multiple consortia. Collectively these innovations provide member organizations with different pathways for advancing …

The “Consistent Chameleon”: Values-Driven Leadership Among Social And Business Leaders Doing Social Entrepreneurship, Esthi Nave, Hagai Katz Jul 2024

The “Consistent Chameleon”: Values-Driven Leadership Among Social And Business Leaders Doing Social Entrepreneurship, Esthi Nave, Hagai Katz

The Journal of Values-Based Leadership

Changing norms in the organizational world drive new hybrid organizational phenomena that reflect an expectation that businesses will be more values-driven and values-driven social organizations will be more businesslike. However, mixing moral values and hard-nosed business creates contradictions. Indeed, research on social/business hybrids has revealed tensions and challenges. Yet, not enough is known about how social entrepreneurs address these inherent contradictions. We explore this question qualitatively through 25 interviews with two types of social/business hybrid organization leaders and their seconds in command: social entrepreneurs who work solely in the social sector (‘exclusive’) and businesspeople who start social ventures (‘dual’).

Analysis …

Leadershift Today: Balancing Ego And Altruism, Joan F. Marques

The Journal of Values-Based Leadership

This article addresses a behavioral dichotomy that seems to be a prerequisite in proper leadership performance in today’s world, especially in organizational settings that cultivate a culture of wellness and reciprocal progress. While the involved concepts - ego and altruism - are generally familiar human traits, the need for a shift from one to the other once leadership has been attained, has not been discussed as such before. This article therefore aims to evoke within leaders the awareness of the need to shift their mindset, and therefore their behavior, from ego-driven to collective-focused once elevated into a leadership position. Exploring Recognition, Rewards, And The Multi-Generational Workforce During The Covid-19 Pandemic, Sara J. Hollenbeck

Doctor of Education Program Dissertations

This study sheds light on the importance of rewards and recognition programs in improving employee engagement and highlights the need for organizations to rethink their rewards and recognition strategies to better meet the needs of multi-generational employees. One problem found in organizations was that many current multi-generational employees had low engagement due, in part, to outdated rewards and recognition programs (Agarwal et al., 2018; North, 2017; O.C. Tanner Institute, 2021). There was a gap in research regarding multi-generational employees in multiple professions and their perceptions of rewards and recognition and how those monetary and non-monetary rewards could affect their engagement …

The Blessed Assembly: Irreplaceable Physical Co-Presence In Worship And Healthy Hybridity Reimagined After The Pandemic In The Digital Age, Yvette, Ying Wai Lau

Doctor of Pastoral Music Projects and Theses

Because of the unprecedented and unexpected force of the pandemic since 2020, most churches around the world have experienced some online worship during the lockdown of their cities or the mandated closure of the church buildings. For many people, online worship seems to be an equivalent, if not better, alternative for gathering together—a physical co-presence in worship—even after the pandemic has ended. As necessary and vital as online worship experiences have been for Christians during the pandemic, the witness of the church from Pentecost throughout Christian history indicates that gathered worship in physical spaces is irreplaceable for faith formation and …
