This paper investigates how financial services providers (FSPs) can engage in value cocreation with their microenterprise customers (CMEs) for sustainable value cocreation. The potential of digital for value cocreation in inter-firm relationships is relevant because digital technologies such as mobile phone and internet platforms are rapidly transforming the business landscape. The research question addressed is how do financial services firms and microenterprises engage in sustainable value co-creation? Research from a variety of scientific fields suggests that physical activity in nature and feelings of connection to nature enhance psychological health and well-being. This study investigated the psychological health and well-being impact of the physical activity environment for those already undertaking the recommended weekly amount of physical activity. This topic is important for the design of health and well-being environments and interventions involving physical activity. Participants (N = 262) aged 18–71 years (M = 34.5, SD = 13.1) who met the UK physical activity guidelines completed the Nature Relatedness Scale, the trait section of the State Trait Inventory for …

Kansas State University’s Rural Grocery Initiative, housed under research and extension, surveyed rural Kansas grocery stores in 2021 (N = 48). This is the second RGI survey, following up on the ownership and customer surveys in 2008. This survey broadly assesses owner characteristics, store features, and challenges. Using descriptive and thematic analyses, we identified two topline conclusions for grocers and their respective Extension services. First, grocers need to identify transition plans earlier and more often. Second, grocers can overcome competition and distribution challenges by diversifying their sourcing, supply, and offerings.

This paper develops the MV-QUAL (Metaverse Quality) scale and explores the various factors that may impact consumers’ perceptions of quality and value when purchasing virtual products in a Metaverse world. Utilizing Flow Theory and SERVQUAL as theoretical lenses to conduct our research, a framework was developed and tested, demonstrating how various factors are interconnected and impact consumers’ shopping experiences in the Metaverse. Data was collected from a national sample of 322 Metaverse users in the United States and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling in SmartPLS, complemented by a neural network causal analysis in Neusrel. Pooling And Winsorizing Machine Learning Forecasts To Predict Stock Returns With High-Dimensional Data, Erik Mekelburg, Jack Strauss

We evaluate US market return predictability using a novel data set of several hundred ag- gregated firm-level characteristics. We apply LASSO, Elastic Net, Random Forest, Neural Net, Extreme Gradient Boosting, and Light Gradient Boosting Machine methods and find these models experience large prediction errors that lead to forecast failures. However, winsorizing and pooling machine learning model forecasts provides consistent out-of-sample predictability. To assess robustness, we apply machine learning methods to high-dimensional data for Canada, China, Germany and the UK as well as the Goyal-Welch data. All machine learning models we consider, except for the ensemble pooled methods, fail to significantly …

This research systematically reviews artificial intelligence (AI) effects in customer-interfacing retail applications based on an ecosystem value co-creation framework. We conduct a bibliometric and conceptual mapping analysis study, focusing on AI-related implications for consumers’ and other stakeholders' well-being, social interaction, and societal welfare. A co-citation network visualization of critical AI journal articles is generated, and a network visualization of AI keyword relationships and clustered topic areas is presented and discussed, along with a conceptual map of the relationships between key concepts and substantive AI themes. Wildlife in Zambia’s Luangwa Valley has fascinated tourists from the pre-colonial era to date. Writings on the prolific beauty of the region describe the abundance of species and beautiful scenery of the valley. The late President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda declared South Luangwa a National Park in 1971. He further facilitated the Luangwa Integrated Rural Development Project (LIRDP) funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (NORAD) to support the management of the Park and engage local communities in conservation efforts and livelihood development. In 1973, the Kansas State College, Pittsburg administration fired thirteen faculty members without cause. In order to improve administration-faculty relations, remaining faculty organized, petitioned for recognition, and drafted PSU/KNEA's first contract with PSU/KBOR, which went into effect five years later. The narrative covering this period draws on Axe Library's KNEA Collection and interviews of former faculty.

Southern Ontario offers valuable insights into the supply chain dynamics of fish harvesting and processing across the Great Lakes region. This report analyzes the existing supply of raw materials produced by fish processing plants and evaluates the feasibility of integrating these resources into other markets. This synthesized report compiles and integrates information from various databases. The analysis examines the quantities and rhythms of fish components from Walleye and Yellow Perch. The findings reveal that combining components from the two species can mitigate supply volatility throughout the year. Machine Learning As Arbitrage: Can Economics Help Explain Ai?, Huahao Lu, Matthew Spiegel, Hong Zhang

Machine learning algorithms have shown to be remarkably successful tools for predicting asset returns. However, the underlying economic mechanisms behind their performance remain unclear. This paper proposes a model-based dynamic arbitrage trading strategy that combines economic and statistical nonstationarity to demystify this black box. In predicting stock returns based on 153 firm characteristics (anomalies), our strategy ranks anomalies similarly to neural networks in the cross-section. Overall, it accounts for approximately 87.9 bps monthly alphas of the high-minus-low portfolios selected by neural networks in the time series. NSRA’s Next Generation Leadership Program (NextGen) is designed to help independently owned shoe stores transition from one generation to the next. The NextGen Program held prior to the Atlanta Shoe Market in January 2024, focused on preparing the NextGens for important conversations with their NowGens about the succession process. Succession can refer to many transitions including ownership and/or management. Oftentimes in family businesses, those transitions should – but may not – go hand in hand, causing significant issues for everyone involved and risking the successful transition that family firms dream about. The workshop addressed strategies to minimize this frequent disconnect.

This critical review examines the strategies and challenges in adapting Olympic facilities for Paralympic use. A synthesis of recent literature evaluates successful retrofitting initiatives, elucidates ongoing challenges, and assesses the repercussions of global events on the dynamic process of facility conversion. The resulting analysis culminates in evidence-based recommendations for future investigations and the operational enhancement of Paralympic venues. These findings suggest that adopting a collaborative approach, anchored in universal design principles and preemptive planning, is imperative to developing accessible, efficient, and ecologically responsible Paralympic infrastructures.

This study investigates the correlation between intercollegiate athletes' meta-perception accuracy and their assessment of coaches' immediacy behaviors, and actions that foster closeness. Utilizing the Coach-Athlete Relationship Questionnaire, 54 athletes evaluated their coaches' immediacy. Findings indicate that lower meta-accuracy aligns with perceived lower immediacy, highlighting the role of perceived relational closeness in athlete self-awareness. Gender dynamics, in terms of coach-athlete dyads, exhibited no effect on meta-perception accuracy. The findings of the study lend credence to sport managers including immediacy behaviors in coach training to enhance athletes' meta-accuracy perception, while also contributing to the literature on meta-perception in sports and coach-athlete gender …

This study investigates the influence of company sport club involvement on employee outcomes, including cultural intelligence (CQ), organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and task performance. Drawing upon the theoretical frameworks of self-determination theory and spillover theory, the research examines how participation in company sport clubs enhances intrinsic motivation and promotes positive workplace attitudes and behaviors. Data were collected from 320 employees in Korea who were involved in various company sport clubs. Structural equation modeling analysis confirms significant positive relationships between company sport club involvement and CQ, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, and task performance. AI-enabled monitoring tools are theoretically expected to suppress unethical employee behavior. However, in practice, employees may perceive such monitoring as being driven by leaders' instrumental motives, primarily focused on personal performance evaluation and self-interest. This perception can foster feelings of job insecurity and moral disengagement, ultimately leading to counterproductive work behavior (CWB), which includes unethical employee behavior and turnover.
