The increasing commodification of academic research and the reliance on flawed impact metrics have started to show the need to reassess how research is conducted, evaluated, and disseminated. In contemporary marketing (analytics) research, the search for relevance and rigor is becoming essential, with the goal being that studies not only meet high standards of academic rigor but also remain ethically sound, relevant to societal needs, and impactful. These key criteria all drive research quality far before the academy considers profitability.

Mexico enacted a decree to ban the sale of genetically modified (GM) maize seed and maize for human consumption. Maize is particularly important to the average diet in Mexico as it is the main feed for the primary source of protein (poultry) and the main ingredient for the primary source of calories (corn tortillas). This study aimed to assess consumer awareness of the decree, support for the decree, and sensitivity of support given possible economic outcomes related to the decree. Inflation of the U.S. dollar drove the Federal Reserve Board to enact four interest rate hikes of 0.75% and additional smaller hikes between March 2022 and April 2023. This paper examines how interest rate hikes affect bank deposit betas and credit risk for community banks, hot money banks, and alternative lending institutions based on data from March 2022 to April 2023. After analyzing data from the Federal Reserve Economic Database, this research found that bank deposit betas increase as interest rates rise, that community banks’ betas increase at a slower rate than hot money banks’ betas, and that the level …

Surf destinations have been ascribed to tropical locations in the past but are moving into more cold-water climates, such as the Maine coast. In order for sustainable policy to be created in places like this. understanding which beaches are impacted by increased surf tourism is the place to start. This was accomplished through an analysis of social media photos using Voluntary Geographic Information mapping techniques. Density maps were created using Flickr/SmugMug photos from Maine with surfing tags in five-year increments from 2004-2024. Prevented planting payments reimburse crop producers for losses from not being able to plant. These payments provide critical protection to producers; however, these payments, which are determined using a nationwide, crop-specific coverage factor, have been questioned to induce moral hazard. Depending on the region and crop insurance coverage, payments from this provision exceed producers’ losses. This paper estimates the prevented planting coverage factor by coverage level and region that would equitably reimburse corn and soybean producers for their losses. How Environmental Accidents Influence Consumer ‘Green’ Behavior: An Econometric Analysis, Rick Hardcopf, Suvrat Dhanorkar

Environmental accidents (EAs) are firm operational failures that harm human health, the natural environment, and offending firms. We propose they also initiate a subtle form of activism among consumers living near the accident by stimulating increased ‘green’ behavior. Using annual county-level data in California from 2000-2015, we show that following an EA, consumers reduce the trash/garbage they generate and the energy they consume. The impact is long-lasting and stronger when EAs are more severe and when consumers have pro-environmental beliefs, ready access to information, and convenient access to ‘green’ options, such as recycling. This article discusses prompt engineering principles, providing examples and guidance. The application of prompt engineering in Extension is explored, showcasing its potential to enhance programs, deliver personalized advice, engage audiences, and disseminate research-based information. Compared to their peers without disabilities, adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities are less likely to be employed. Adults with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities also face a digital divide, with less access to and use of technology in their daily lives. Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) represents a technology that has the potential to enhance many aspects of the Atlantic sea scallop fishery. Driven by fishery management and market forces, fishery product traceability benefits fisheries managers, consumers, and fishermen. In order to demonstrate the capabilities of RFID technology in the scallop fishery, a solution is proposed that would help establish clear Chain of Custody (CoC) so that the scallop supply chain can be better documented. Implementation and acceptance of any new technology will hinge on effective communication and extension efforts that can leverage the multi-benefit aspects of adopting RFID into the fishery.

The Fed’s primary motivation with the FFR is to control macroeconomic factors such as inflation and unemployment. This article encompassed the effect of diverse leadership behaviors on employee morale across variable organizational contexts but with a core interest in transformational and participative styles. The analysis brings together findings from a range of methodological approaches that include cross-sectional surveys, longitudinal studies, multi-level analyses, and cross-national research to provide a comprehensive understanding of how leadership impacts employee engagement, job satisfaction, and organizational success. Generational knowledge loss occurs when retirement-eligible employees depart without transmitting accumulated knowledge to younger employees. The knowledge-loss presents inadequacies if younger employees obtain knowledge on their own instead of gleaning from the experience of the retirement-eligible employees. This article discusses themes found through a qualitative, exploratory, single case study, highlighting transmitting generational knowledge before retirement.
