For many years, the ideas of Knight and Keynes have been widely understood to overlap greatly and they are presumed to have developed notions of uncertainty that deeply intersect, both describing a state where outcomes have non-probabilistic likelihoods. Furthermore, even their political philosophies are historically somewhat homogenised, both considered ‘liberals’. We critically review the historical records and writings of these key scholars with the purpose of dehomogenising their political philosophies, scientific epistemologies and their famous works on uncertainty, published in the same year—1921. JOHNSON CITY (July 2, 2021) – Five East Tennessee State University students from the Department of Music clarinet studio will attend the sixth annual Minnesota Clarinet Academy, which will be held virtually July 5-9.

This international clarinet workshop draws advanced clarinet students and enthusiasts from around the world.

The participating ETSU students are Kate Boundy of Clinton; Sophia Holcomb and Emerald Mayes, both of Rogersville; Kamryn Vandyke of Grundy, Virginia; and Alexandria Harrison of Richlands, Virginia.

Resilience research has become increasingly popular in organizational sciences in recent years. Different factor structures of resilience have been proposed and yet no consensus has been reached regarding its underlying dimensions. Such a variable-centered perspective of studying resilience may be well complemented by a typological approach, which may shed fresh light on the nature of resilience. The current study took a person-centered approach with the advantage of using latent profile analysis to explore a set of latent profiles of resilience. Two studies were conducted. College student performance and retention have been areas of concern for higher education for decades, and increasingly so over the last quarter century. This study explores how creating a learning community comprised of a first-year seminar and two disciplinary gateway courses across two semesters affected student performance in the gateway classes and in student retention. The study found three things of interest: 1) participation in a learning community and in a residential learning community each slightly improve the likelihood that a student will enroll in the second semester; 2) performance in Introduction to Business, a disciplinary gateway course, is highly …

In recent years, E-textbooks have become a real alternative to the traditional textbooks in higher education. Many institutions have been encouraging their usage with mixed success. This study investigates students’ perceptions of E-textbooks in a medium-sized university in the Midwestern United States and measures students’ intention to adopt E-textbooks where they had an option to choose between traditional textbooks and E-textbooks for their classes. Literature reviews indicated some inconsistencies related to E-textbook adoptions. We used the Technology Acceptance model to investigate these inconsistencies. We summarize contemporary issues related to academic dishonesty and draw from relevant organizational ethics program research to present a dual framework that business educators can use to mitigate technology-driven cheating among their students. Based on a review of the relevant literature, we develop a rationale which identifies three key observations: 1) technology-driven academic dishonesty is pervasive among college business students, 2) there are proactive steps that can be taken to address this problem, and 3) faculty, staff, and administrators in collegiate schools of business can and should do more to mitigate cheating among their students. This study was conducted to statistically assess the impact peer reviews and writing lab reviews have on student writing. The subjects of this research were business students taking an international business class that requires a writing assignment from all students. Four different sections of this class were used in the study. With one section as a control group, another section required students to participate in a student peer review of papers before submitting the final draft for grading. A third class was required to have its papers reviewed at a writing lab before submission. The fourth class did both. The …

هدفت الدراسة التعرف إلى واقع التمكين الإداري لدى الموظفين في وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية بالمحافظات الجنوبية، كذلك التعرف إلى مستوى تطبيق مبادئ إدارة الجودة الشاملة لديهم، ومن ثم اختبار العلاقة بين التمكين الإداري ومستوى تطبيق إدارة الجودة الشاملة وأثر التمكين الإداري على إدارة الجودة الشاملة لدى شاغلي الوظائف الإشرافية. وتم استخدام أسلوب المنهج الوصفي التحليلي وتم استخدام الاستبانة كأداة لجمع البيانات وتوزيعها على عينة عددها (305) من مجتمع الدراسة البالغ عدده (1479) موظفًا وموظفة من شاغلي الوظائف الإشرافية في وزارة الصحة الفلسطينية بالمحافظات الجنوبية. وقد خلصت الدراسة إلى مجموعة من النتائج أهمها: أن واقع التمكين الإداري ككل في وزارة الصحة …

ملخص:

هدفت الدراسة إلى تحديد محددات البطالة في فلسطين، كما قدرت الدراسة أثر المتغيرات المستقلة (الزيادة السكانية، التسهيلات الائتمانية المباشرة، الاستهلاك الكلي، الانفاق الحكومي) على نسبة البطالة في فلسطين خلال الفترة الزمنية 1995-2016م، وقد تم استخدام طريقة المربعات الصغرى العادية(OLS)، وقد توصلت الدراسة إلى جملة من النتائج منها: جميع المتغيرات المستقلة كانت دالة إحصائياً باستثناء الانفاق الحكومي، ووجود علاقة طردية بين الزيادة السكانية ومعدل البطالة حيث بلغت مرونة الزيادة السكانية (5.031)، كما بلغت مرونة التسهيلات الائتمانية المباشرة (-0.507)، أما مرونة الاستهلاك الكلي فقد بلغت(-0.809) .

Sediment loads in stream systems play a big role in how overall runoff behaves. Streams naturally transport sediment at various ratios depending on precipitation. When vegetation is removed in upstream environments, sediment loads on streams increase. Sudden increases of sediments in streams can cause many issues, such as flooding or stream re-direction. In Morehead, KY, large-scale logging operations on the ridge above Knapp Avenue and on the ridge above the north end of Allen Avenue have caused increased sediment load in a small stream called Oxley Branch. In turbulent economic times, tuition-driven universities often search for impactful ways to differentiate themselves from their competitors. Differentiators may be particularly important in MBA programs, which are among the more lucrative academic offerings. The present study tracked participant reflections from the coaching component of an MBA leadership certificate program through Kolb’s Experiential Learning Cycle (concrete experience, reflections, abstract conceptualizations, active experimentation) and the coaches’ roles during the cycle as educators. Cooperatives serve as an important tool for improving the living conditions of members and their community. However, like any other business enterprise, cooperatives are also exposed to disasters that may affect their
operations. This study analyzed the economic effects of disasters on cooperatives in CALABARZON, Philippines. Results of the Pearson’s chi-square test showed that cooperatives are exposed to various types of natural, biological, and humaninduced disasters. It was found out that disasters lead to increased operational costs and reduced net surplus. This study describes the experiences and coping strategies related with the COVID-19 threat and the community quarantine policy by the fishers and farmers in the island province of Guimaras. Both food producers faced marketrelated problems such as low demand, low prices of catch and produce, and logistical problems. While the in-kind support (e.g., food provisions) received and adaptive measures (e.g., continued with fishing or adjusted harvest schedule; use of social media or delivery services in marketing) allowed them to get by during the pandemic, there is a need to develop more resilient farming and fishing households.
