JOHNSON CITY (March 20, 2020) — East Tennessee State University’s Board of Trustees will hold a special called meeting on Monday, March 23, at 4 p.m.

ETSU President Brian Noland will provide a report on COVID-19 updates and response. The meeting will be conducted permitting participation by electronic or other means of communication if necessary. JOHNSON CITY (March 20, 2020) – The Class of 2020 at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine found out today where they were matched for their residencies upon their upcoming graduation.

Like the majority of medical schools across the country, Quillen College of Medicine cancelled its traditional match day celebration held for students and their families due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the students took part in an alternate match day experience, receiving an email with the results of the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) at noon today.

Background: Medical crowdfunding has emerged as a growing field for fundraising opportunities. Some environmental trends have driven the emergence of campaigns to raise funds for medical care. These trends include lack of medical insurance, economic backlash following the 2008 financial collapse, and shortcomings of health care regulations.

Phenomenological Study Of Military Veteran Ceos: The Transition Experience And Mentorship From The Battlefield To The Boardroom, Anthony Gagliardo

Purpose: The purpose of this qualitative study was to identify and describe the transitional and mentoring experiences as described by veterans who achieve civilian executive leadership positions within Fortune 500 companies.

Methodology: The participants in the study were 8 former military leaders who subsequently achieved senior executive positions within Fortune 500 companies. Participants answered questions about their experience as a military leader and mentee during the service to civilian transition, organizational enculturation, and promotion to a civilian leadership position. Interview transcripts and artifacts were reviewed for the emergence of major topics and themes.

What are biodata measures?

Biodata measures are hiring tools that assess a variety of biographical or background data about job candidates. When they were first developed, biodata measures included objective and verifiable questions about a person’s background and history (e.g., education level, number of siblings, job history), but over time they have come to include more subjective questions similar to those found on personality tests (e.g., attitudes, interests, recreational activities, education, and work experiences and preferences) (Schmitt & Golubovich, 2013). Rising Action: The Effect Of Narrative Transportation On Consumer Purchase Behavior, Bryan Samuelsen

We investigate whether narrative transportation can have an effect, not only on beliefs and purchase intentions, but on purchase behavior. Participants watch a video related to digital assistants and choose whether to enter a drawing for their choice of a digital assistant or a gift card; we hypothesize that those whose transportation is inhibited will be less likely to choose the digital assistant. We successfully inhibit transportation in the pretest, but do not see similar results in the study and are thus unable to determine if there is an effect on behavior.

Utilizing professional sales competition videos taken from a university Sales program, the current study investigates the link between nonverbal gestures made by salespeople and performance scores given by professional sales recruiters watching their role plays. The results of this study may suggest a relationship between gesture use and perceptions of sales ability.

JOHNSON CITY (March 18, 2020) – Three faculty members from East Tennessee State University recently received a grant to study the impact of a modified ketogenic diet on individuals with Type 2 diabetes.
