JOHNSON CITY (Aug. 10, 2020) – Continuing its focus on promoting a diverse and inclusive student culture, East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy received a grant of over $45,000 to support mentoring, engagement and retention efforts for pharmacy students whose first or best language is not English (E2 students).

The project, PEER-E2, stands for Promoting Engagement, Excellence, and Retention for E2 students and focuses on six main areas:

•           Specialized tutoring

•           Weekly language lab

•           Peer mentoring

•           Monthly culture and language exchange events

Patient empowerment through health information technology is a relevant area in healthcare transformation; however, research has not adequately addressed how electronic health record (EHR) systems design can enhance this phenomenon in the care process. This study proposes a design artifact (EHR sharing) that focuses on empowering patients and EHR use to achieve patient centered care. Using a sample of 154 in a real-world scenario (diabetes) and a design science approach, we tested and evaluated the effectiveness of our proposed artifact for both the traditional and the current design approaches. Many organizations carry out green innovation for sustainable development, but not all are successful. Based on the technology-organization-environment framework, this study examines how prepared enterprises are for green innovation in terms of technology readiness, organization readiness, and environment readiness. It hypothesizes that the necessary and sufficient conditions along each dimension enable and facilitate green innovation, leading to competitive advantage through the mediation of environmental performance and firm performance. To test the research model, survey observations were collected from 340 companies in China. With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, many child welfare supervisors suddenly were managing a virtual team with little or no preparation. Maintaining accountability when staff telework (i.e., work from home) poses challenges in defining and measuring productivity. These challenges can feel different from managing performance in an office environment. Supervisors needed to navigate between emphasizing process (how the work is done) and the achievement of specific outcomes (what gets done). This paper aims at filling existing research by examining the impact of corporate governance and ownership structure on firm performance using cross-sectional data from companies in the MENA region for the years 2009-2013. The results indicate that higher ownership concentration is associated with higher returns. Furthermore, firms with higher international ownership share tend to perform better than those with only local private and/or state ownership. The results suggest some prevalent features with respect to ownership and performance of firms in the MENA region. Some enterprises recently start to offer the flexible trade-in option to attract customers from competitors, in contrast to the simple one that only allows them to return used products to the same manufacturers for new. Based on analytical and numerical analyses, this study compares the environmental impacts of two trade-in strategies (simple versus flexible) in combination with different carbon tax policies. From the perspective of consumer switching behaviour, a Hotelling model with two market segments is established. Lack of an integrated and commonly accepted theory to explain volunteerism is a function of the multi-dimensional nature of the construct, which is positively correlated to multiple behavioral, cultural, and political attributes in myriad studies. This study explored brand communication and audience engagement metrics for automakers selling electrified vehicle models in the U.S. The dataset included all Twitter communication from 27 major brand accounts during a one-year period (July 2018 through June 2019). Data analysis focused on communication volume, explicit saturation, and discourse clustering around key themes and variables. The study found abysmal amounts of EV-category explicit terminology for all brands, particularly so for U.S. accounts. Audience engagement was stronger for brands that pulled EVs into the lifestyle of their targets, than for brands pushing normative messages about environmental concerns.
