Through this experience, I learned many facts and lessons about what it is like to be homeless, how people become homeless, and how the city of Cleveland is trying to solve problems surrounding the homeless population. When referring to measurables, this consists of all of the numerical data from each player that should, in theory, help teams get an idea of the players strengths or weaknesses. This study investigates main and moderating factors that influence Millennials' intention to participate in a social networking community (SNC). The authors modified the unified theory of consumers' acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT2) to incorporate six main and two moderating factors to explain Millennials' SNC participation intention. By considering the implications of the unique characteristics of Millennials on their social networking behavior, the authors' model is better suited to answer what drives these tech-savvy individuals to participate in a SNC via such sites as Facebook. Earnings Persistence And Levels Of The Accrual Ratio And Discretionary Accruals, Kwadwo Asare

This paper evaluates how persistent earnings and its accrual and cash flow components are conditional on the modified Jones Model discretionary accruals and the accrual ratio. Consistent with prior research cash flows are more persistent than both earnings and the accruals component of earnings. While the difference in persistence of the extreme deciles of Discretionary Accruals are not very large, those of the Accrual Ratio are much larger, suggesting that the Accrual Ratio can be a simple but effective gauge of earnings persistence and can complement Discretionary Accruals as a measure of the persistence dimension of earnings quality.

With the addition of new laws from 1970-current, it is harder for money laundering to be committed due to the requirement of reports and bank inspections. Using data analytics techniques such as the time-series analysis, we can analyze data sets to look closer and tell what transactions are money laundering, and what are actual ones.

The University Brand Personality Scale was introduced in the Journal of Business Research in 2016. It establishes six dimensions for evaluating a university’s personality: prestige, sincerity, appeal, lively, conscientious, and cosmopolitan. The scale also illustrates how these dimensions relate to brand love, positive word-of-mouth, and students’ intentions to support their university as alumni. The goal of this project was to evaluate Western Kentucky University’s brand personality on these six dimensions based on student surveys. Results showed that among the six dimensions, sincerity and appeal ranked the highest, followed by prestige, lively, and conscientious, then finally, cosmopolitan. However, on average, each …

This paper investigates the effects that terrorist attacks and mass shootings had on the U.S. stock market, using high frequency intraday data to identify stock price and variability reactions in the hours after the attack. The impact that terrorist attacks had on price level variability was examined using the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroskedasticity (GARCH) model. The market reaction to domestic versus foreign attacks was examined to measure a potential for contagion across financial markets. The market size of global education is estimated to reach USD 10 trillion by 2030. Concurrently, there has been a growth in private-sector engagement in education generally, the sector occupying the top priority for many private investors operating in Asia. However, there is a paucity of concrete data and little transparency in reporting, inhibiting knowledge-sharing. The Tourism Stakeholder Assessment Project was undertaken partly in response to anecdotal evidence regarding inconsistencies with branding, lack of strategic direction, and regional cooperation that affects the overall competitiveness of the tourism industry in Humboldt County, CA. The goal of the project was to better understand the state of the tourism industry in Humboldt County and what steps can be taken to keep improving the industry. The presentation contains results presented at a public meeting in spring 2019.

Cybersecurity Oversight Liability, Benjamin P. Edwards

A changing cybersecurity environment now poses a significant corporate-governance challenge. Although some cybersecurity data breaches may be inevitable, courts now increasingly consider when a corporation’s officers and directors may be held liable on theories that they acted in bad faith and failed to adequately oversee the corporation’s affairs. This short essay reviews recent derivative decisions and encourages corporate boards to recognize that in an environment filled with increasing threats, a reasonable response will require devoting real resources and attention to cybersecurity issues.
