The Impacts Of Change In Governance On Faculty And Staff At Higher Education Institutions: A Case Study Of Ohsu, Dana L. Director

In the early 1990s, Oregon Health and Science University leadership examined the political and economic landscape and determined it needed a new operational model to survive and thrive. In 1995 OHSU separated from the state higher education system and became a public corporation, with goals of increased efficiency, customer-focus, ability to attract world-class researchers and physicians, and salaries commensurate with an urban academic health center.

This research examines the internal impacts when universities undergo significant change, using OHSU's governance change as a case study. Central is the question: what effect(s) did OHSU's decision to become a unique public corporation have …

Concern about America’s competitive advantage in the global marketplace puts Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) at the forefront of U.S. state and national agendas with recruitment of females in STEM dominating the conversation. Projections by the U.S. Department of Labor show nine of the 10 fastest-growing occupations are in STEM. The question is how do we get more young women interested in STEM?

The study was commissioned by Fundashon Bon Intenshon (FBI), through its sole Director and Founder, Mr. Gregory Elias, and was conducted through an intercept survey on site during the two major concerts on August 30 and 31, 2013. The report documents the economic value of the Rosen College of Hospitality Management (RCHM) to the Metro Orlando area. The purpose of estimating the economic value of the program is to calculate the increased economic activities in the Metro Orlando area as generated by college degree attainment through the RCHM. The report is the result of an assignment commissioned by the Dean of the RCHM. The report assessed the economic impact of the alumni of the College during the period from 2000 to 2012. As interest rates rise, bond prices fall. Given historically low interest rates, many investors are concerned about bond prices, particularly since the loose monetary policy being implemented by the Fed may trigger inflation and therefore higher future interest rates. To hedge away this interest rate risk, some investors have used inflation protected securities. The Treasury, however, just launched another alternative -- floating rate notes. The interest paid on these notes rise as market rates rise, thereby also protecting the bond's price. See article here, WSJ.

Our research study expands the frontiers of knowledge concerning Latin American culture by exploring generational changes in the three components of culture: values, attitudes and behaviors. We examined generational changes in Latin American values, attitudes towards women and Type A stress behaviors with two population cohorts (2006 and 2012) of working adults in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico.

A question of significant importance in today’s global marketplace is how employees balance their conflicting work and family lives. The purpose of this paper is to explore cross-cultural differences and interrelationships between work-family conflict and family-work conflict and Type A stress behaviors in working adults in Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico.We found statistically significant crosscultural differences between Argentina, Brazil, Colombia and Mexico for work-family and family-work conflict and for Type A stress behaviors; we also found both positive and negative correlations between the work-family and family-work conflict and Type A stress behaviors.
