Studying forgiveness presents a formidable challenge to the organizational scholar. Forgiveness is a concept that has cultural, moral, and behavioral implications. Generally seen as rooted in religion by many (Smith, 1988), it is also a concept that may have a significant impact within the organization. In this paper we will offer a three-part model of the notion of forgiveness. Our model is based on the observation that the existing literature on forgiveness is clustered around three levels of behavioral patterns: 1) individual forgiveness, 2) group forgiveness, and 3) organizational forgiveness. Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attack is a rapidly growing threat to today’s Internet. Significant works have been done in this field. It is vital to incorporate the latest development of technology into academic programs to provide training and education to students and professionals.

In this paper, we present the design and implementation of a senior design project named DDoS Attack, Detection and Defense Simulation. We aim to build a test bed and configure the network environment to simulate “real-world” DDoS attack, detection and defense. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (“SOX”) established not only corporate governance reform but also legislated significant changes to the practice of auditing publicly held corporations. Rules implemented by the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”) further reinforced stronger corporate governance standards. The effect of these reforms on the cost of public audits is indisputable: the initial rise in audit fees was dramatic as corporations complied with the new provisions. This paper examines the relationship between corporate governance characteristics and audit fees for a random sample of 100 publicly traded corporations drawn from the 2005 Fortune 500 list. Do hedge funds earn above-average returns? Is there a way to identify these top performers? Where hedge funds are located makes the difference, according to Singapore Management University finance professor Melvyn Teo, who is also director of the university’s BNP Paribas Hedge Fund Centre. Teo puts forward evidence for the hypothesis that locally-managed hedge funds are better able to monitor their investments and, therefore, generate superior returns.

Government laws are not always consistent with the laws of supply and demand and when enacted have unintended consequences. Three real world examples provide illustrations of policy makers implementing policies that have unintended consequences. When households and firms look at prices when deciding what to buy and sell, they unknowingly take into account the social benefits and costs of their actions. As a result, prices guide these individual decision makers to reach outcomes that maximize the welfare of society as a whole.

Barter bookkeeping was employed well into the 20th Century in some rural communities of the U.S. Those who used it often did so because it was adequate for their needs, not because they were unfamiliar with the double entry system. One such individual, Benjamin Barns Sayle, employed both systems simultaneously, to address the needs of his different enterprises. His story and records illustrate an almost natural progression in the understanding and use of accounting records from the limited, simple but effective barter bookkeeping system to the more expansive double entry system by individuals.
