What Is the IMSA Fund?

The IMSA Fund for Advancement of Education is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation that accepts and distributes gifts and grants from the private sector to support IMSA's mission and work. These contributions support programs and services for IMSA students and staff, other Illinois students, and educators in Illinois and beyond; activities for IMSA alumni and parents; and IMSA Fund operations including donor cultivation and recognition.

Corporations, foundations, small businesses and individual donors, including board members, alumni, current and alumni parents, staff members and friends, make possible numerous opportunities that otherwise would not occur. Gifts to the …

Infinite games with incomplete information are common in practice. First-price, sealed-bid auctions are a prototypical example. To solve this kind of infinite game, a heuristic approach is to discretise the strategy spaces and enumerate to approximate the equilibrium strategies. However, an approximate algorithm might not be guaranteed to converge. This paper discusses the utilisation of a best response algorithm in solving infinite games with incomplete information. We show the constraints of the valuation distributions define the necessary conditions of the convergence of the best response algorithm for several classes of infinite games, including auctions. Finance and Real Estate Theses - Archive

In 2003 HUD ruled that flipped properties, which are defined as recently acquired properties that have been resold, often within days, and for a substantial profit, are ineligible for FHA insured mortgage financing. This research uses the HUD ruling as the basis for this study. Their ruling was based on the perception that property flipping had a negative effect on home prices among other things. The study uses hedonic modeling to empirically determine if houses that have previously flipped have any influence on value when compared to the non-flipped properties in the same market. There are currently four distinct generations in today's workforce (Veterans, Baby Boomers, Generation X, and Millennials). This presents unique challenges for employers since each of these generations is affected and shaped by different events in their lives, which define the values they bring to work. These differences can be increasingly difficult to manage and may lead to conflicts. Significant research has been conducted in this area, but little has focused on public sector employees, specifically sworn law enforcement officers. Liquidity, Credit Risk And Pricing Of Corporate Bond, Xiaoli Sun

Employing a comprehensive database on transactions of corporate bonds issued by corporations, agencies and financial institutions, we compare the different liquidity measures--bid-ask spread, zero-return percentage, Amihud illiquidity factor for the corporate bond market. The criteria of judging is based on the explanatory power of different liquidity measures in determining yield spread over the benchmark curve (equivalent-maturity Treasury bond or notes). The conclusion is that liquidity plays a role in determining corporate bond yield spread. There are significant differences in the explanatory power of the different liquidity measures; among the liquidity measures, zero-return percentage works best. Preliminary findings, based on the …

Numerous studies have estimated U.S. stock market returns measured by various indexes such as the S&P 500 Index over certain periods. The purpose of this paper is twofold: first we calculate, under certain scenarios, the final total accumulation of a representative individual who invests a certain amount of funds per month during a long investment horizon of say 30 or 40 years. Second, we evaluate the performance of such an investment plan of defined monthly contributions. This evaluation is based on a benefit target and working backwards we compute the necessary monthly contributions. In our calculations we use actual monthly …

The recent bankruptcy of the eGrocer Webvan demonstrates that online retailers face enormous risks and hence need well thought out business strategies (Porter, 2001). This paper presents a longitudinal study of the business strategies of two eGrocers that use physical stores to house their Internet-based grocery operations (clicks-and-bricks) and two online only (pure-play) eGrocers. Our study results in a number of recommendations for successful eGrocer strategy configuration. Even though we focus on eGrocer’s strategies, we suggest that the lessons learned are of interest to other retailers planning to embark on eCommerce activities.

This dissertation is composed by three essays that explore the relationship between good IT governance and effective information security services. Governance steers and verifies performance of fiduciary duties, through the implementation of proper governance mechanisms. With a focus on information security, this essay presents three categories of governance mechanisms - process-based, structural, and relational. When properly instituted, they work together to ensure that IT understands business requirements for information security and strives to fulfill them. An explanation is offered about the efficacy of those mechanisms, based on an agency theory perspective that views IT as an agent for business. The …

These floods can cause major damage to properties and have resulted in significant losses for insurance companies. The thesis will apply the generic model as developed by Johnson and Scholes [1999] ton one professional association and seek to understand the process of strategic development within that association.
