The Chinese telecommunications manufacturing industry is one of the fastest growing industries in China. This paper addresses the question of how China can develop this industry and penetrate the U.S. market. To this end, I study the U.S. telecommunications manufacturing market to find market opportunities. Subsequently, I examine the Chinese telecommunications manufacturing industry, mainly focusing on the industry’s structures, and the vendors’ conduct and performance. Several government policies are discussed which will foster the development of this Chinese industry in the U.S. market. Moreover, I assess several strategies for overseas expansion by the Chinese telecommunications equipment vendors.

This project was conducted in order to analyze the causes of domestic trouble tickets (DTRs) at Green Tokai Co., Ltd., as well as provide recommendations on how to reduce them. DTRs cost Green Tokai $518,000 annually.

At the onset of this project it became clear that one of the major contributors to DTRs was the labeling process that was in place. Green Tokai was shipping incorrectly labeled parts to customers. This problem became the primary focus of the project, and several recommendations were made in order to reduce the DTRs due to labeling issues.

Inventing Flight: The Centennial Celebration An Economic Impact Study On Tourism In Dayton, Ohio, Elina Blain

This paper quantifies the local economic impact of the 2003 Inventing Flight Celebration in Dayton, Ohio. Using information from the Wright State University (WSU) Inventing Flight Survey of 1,502 visitors to the events and RIMS II multipliers for the Dayton/Springfield Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA), the local expenditures, income, and employment impacts are estimated. This paper includes a complete analysis of the WSU Inventing Flight Survey questions and responses in order to find out how this one-time Celebration affected the local economy. Both the short-term and long-term benefits of this regional tourism event are included in this study.

Treating the uninsured in cases of cardiovascular emergencies has demonstrated to be a large expense to the health care system, primarily borne by the society as they contribute to taxes/levies that support local hospitals for indigent care. Interventions to reduce the cardiovascular risk factors among the uninsured are expensive but have proven to be an effective alternative to the present situation, which is to treat them only in cases of emergencies. The metabolic syndrome (MS) poses a threat particularly to the uninsured population because of its asymptomatic nature. Originally established in 1989 as the 2003 Committee, the Inventing Flight Committee was formed to honor the accomplishments of the Wright Brothers through leading the planning and implementation of the 2003 Inventing Flight Celebrations.1 Inventing Flight’s efforts will realize a lasting legacy, including long term economic impacts in the Dayton region from increases in heritage awareness, improvements in infrastructure, and the arrival of the National Park Service.

Researchers who study IT innovations aim to understand the relationship between two different loci of adoption1 – individual adoption and organizational adoption. A first step is diagnosis of the current state of empirical research on IT innovation adoption. We analyzed 486 relationships between independent variables (IVs) and dependent variables (DVs) found in 89 empirical studies of which 45 studied individual adoption and 44 studied organizational adoption. A recently released study sponsored by the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) documents hardening in the homeowner’s insurance market nationwide; i.e., property insurance premiums have increased sharply and coverage availability has often been limited. The NAR study did not, however, investigate the impact of this hardening on residential real estate transactions, nor did it include an examination of the transactional impact resulting from the increasing propensity of insurance companies to require property modifications as a condition of issuing a policy. A model is proposed for ISP customers to accept e-mail marketing in exchange for a discount on the Internet fee. Adherence to the model appeared to vary with age, number of e-mails received per day, and with the amount of the current fee. Authors recommend marketers send fewer, better-targeted, and personalized e-mails.

Conventional wisdom holds that defense industry consolidation resulted from decreased defense spending. However, we maintain that understanding dynamic changes in key defense institutions helps provide a more complete explanation for observed consolidation. Specifically, we examine the interaction of evolving technology and changing institutions. Institutions reviewed include procurement policies, weapons requirements process and the procurement organizations. We take an initial look at the industry and highlight how these changes influenced transaction costs in the defense industry more fully explain the forces driving consolidation and provide greater insight to policy makers seeking to improve the performance of the defense industry. Traditional instruction, under an experiential learning model, is neither the sole nor a sufficient means of learning. Learning systems that engage students as contributors to learning offer opportunities for educators. The availability of technology to support experiential exercises represents one opportunity to augment traditional instruction. In a quasi-experiment, traditional-only instruction was compared with traditional instruction augmented with a technology-based, experiential exercise. The two instructional methods were evaluated based on student learning, intended behavior, and satisfaction. Our findings suggest that augmented instruction significantly increased student learning and satisfaction. The implications for students are clear. Despite its infancy, some authors are already suggesting that the writing may be on the wall for supply chain collaboration. It has been reported that supply chain collaboration has proved difficult to implement; there has been an over‐reliance on technology in trying to implement it; a failure to understand when and with whom to collaborate; and fundamentally a lack of trust between trading partners. This paper proposes that a supply chain segmentation approach, based on customer buying behaviour and service needs, is the most appropriate context for collaboration. Did the demise of Arthur Andersen and the related fallout affect the satisfaction of entry-level accountants at Big Four firms? The answer appears to be "no." Despite the considerable negative press focused on the profession, entry-level accountants still assess positively the profession and their careers. The authors followed the careers of 32 new hires from the summer of 2000, assessing their job satisfaction every 6 months. Job satisfaction remained stable over the period just before and after the Andersen collapse. Despite the negative press, respondents indicated that their firm is operating much as it had in the past. The relatively …
