Teaching Sql In An On-Line Learning Environment: Considering For Selecting A Relational Database, Marion Smith
Southwestern Business Administration Journal
In today’s business environment, students entering the workplace are expected to have problem-solving skills as well as an understanding of fundamental database concepts. Interns and new hires must be able to identify, extract and manipulate data that typically reside in a relational database. To meet this expectation, students are introduced to database concepts and SQL in a variety of courses. This paper discusses instructor considerations when selecting a database management system for teaching SQ on-line

Developing Global Competence in a Virtual Classroom
In today’s globalized economy, effective leaders must be able to relate to and work with people from diverse cultures. Higher Education has a leading role in creating global citizens through intentional student global competence development opportunities, such as education abroad (American Council on Education, 1998). The importance of developing global competence is reflected in an increasing number of new curricular programs with a global focus offered by universities. As one of the many strategic and systematic efforts to promote global education, the Institute for International Education’s Generation Study Abroad program reports a 300% …
Teaching How Supply Chain Operations Impact Financial Results: A Case Study Using Cloud-Based Simulation, Michael J. Murray
Teaching How Supply Chain Operations Impact Financial Results: A Case Study Using Cloud-Based Simulation, Michael J. Murray
Southwestern Business Administration Journal
Understanding how the execution of the supply chain business processes affect the financial performance a firm is key to running a successful enterprise. These processes are integrated across many functional groups within a business organization, and it is difficult to illustrate this integration in a classroom setting. This paper presents a case study of teaching supply chain operations and business analytics using the cloud-based SAP ERPsim manufacturing game. Although teaching about enterprise systems is often classified as part of the MIS or accounting domain, the ERPsim simulation encompasses the primary supply chain business processes, and because the enterprise system on …
How To Create Cash Flows That Give A Priori Irrs?, Charlie Charoenwong, Xinxin Li, Chee K. Ng
How To Create Cash Flows That Give A Priori Irrs?, Charlie Charoenwong, Xinxin Li, Chee K. Ng
Southwestern Business Administration Journal
We illustrate algebraically the way to numerically derive the cash flows of an investment project yielding a set of desired IRRs. This is significant given the dearth of practice questions with the appropriate cash flow numbers, and their corresponding sign, in widely adopted Finance textbooks that will allow students to find multiple IRRs as learning exercises. The note serves to fill that void by allowing the readers to change the IRR inputs in an Excel spreadsheet and have the corresponding cash flows output ready for an assignment. Instructors can use the Excel codes to create different cash flows that yield …

Rethinking Tourism And Public Health Policies In International Travel Megahubs For The Post-Covid-19 Era, Jeconiah Louis Dreisbach, Sharon Mendoza-Dreisbach
Journal of Health Research
Background: This article rethinks current public health policies to transdisciplinarily reorient the countries’ tourism policies as a preparation to future pandemics. This adds to the public health discourse that West Asian international travel megahubs could be susceptible spaces to high risks of transnational viral transmissions.
Method: This is a letter to the editor.
Results: The United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and Qatar are the world’s leading international travel megahubs, with Saudi Arabia catching up following its efforts in establishing a new national airline to increase international passenger traffic. Collectively, they are connected to more than half of the world’s leading international …

Are More Followers Always Better? The Non-Linear Relationship Between The Number Of Followers And User Engagement On Seeded Marketing Campaigns In Instagram, Suyoung Moon, Shijin Yoo
Asia Marketing Journal
Seeded marketing campaign (SMC) is a newly created type of marketing activities with the widespread use of social media. Previous research has examined to find out the optimal seeding strategy that yields the best outcome from the campaign. This research explores the relationships between the characteristics of the seeded influencer and user engagement. The data consists of information from 1,062 seeded Instagram posts posted in September 2020 in Korea and 778 seeded influencers who posted those contents. Analyzed by negative binomial regression, our quadratic model suggests that the relationship between user engagement and the number of followers of the seeded …

Mobile Banking Service In Mongolia: The Role Of Online Convenience On The Acceptance And Use Behavior, Aisena Ivanova, Grimm Noh
Asia Marketing Journal
The goal of this study is to scrutinize the impact of individual online convenience dimensions on mobile banking acceptance and use in Mongolia. A total of 211 valid responses were collected from Mongolian university students who currently use mobile banking application services from local banks. The SmartPLS 3.3 software was used to conduct the confirmatory factor analysis and test the hypotheses. Using structural equation modelling, this research discovered that access convenience, transaction convenience, and possession/post- possession convenience are the main constructs related to the adoption of mobile banking services. Perceived innovation showed a significant positive effect on the adoption of …
