Virtual Currencies And Intrapreneurial Coordination, Martin Sibileau
Virtual Currencies And Intrapreneurial Coordination, Martin Sibileau
Journal of New Finance
Managers of conglomerates or companies with multiple business units are, like central planners in socialist countries, unable to perform economic calculation. These units exchange goods and services internally based on transfer prices, not market prices, and it is hard to ascertain the value contributed by management, which is often hired and rewarded based on political considerations. Innovation is also often unwelcome, as it may challenge privileges of executive management. Until 2016, conglomerates lacked the technology to benefit from economic calculation. In this paper, I propose that a blockchain platform supporting an internal virtual currency enables economic calculation inside conglomerates, unlocking …

White Male Privilege, Diversity-As-Deficit, And Tokenism In The North American University: Reflections On Netflix’S The Chair, Annamma Joy
Markets, Globalization & Development Review
Ji-Yoon, an Asian-American woman, is the newly appointed chair of the English department at Pembroke University, a lower-tier Ivy League school. Most of the department’s faculty are older and white and male, but do include a female white professor, Joan Hambling, clearly suffering from marginalization. There is also a young black faculty member named Yasmin McKay, whom Ji-Yoon wants to make the university’s first black tenured professor in the English department. Yaz, as they call her, has published in the top journals and is loved by her students, who flock to take her courses. There are other story dynamics dealing …

The themes that emerged from the data include (a) the reason for succession, (b) necessary leadership characteristics, (c) the succession process, (d) resistance to succession, and (e) the value of external help. Impact Of Cybersecurity Investments On Smaller Organizations, Stephen Mancini
Impact Of Cybersecurity Investments On Smaller Organizations, Stephen Mancini
Journal of Fundamental & Applied Business Research
The challenges of securing an organization from various cyber threats are well known. However, it is particularly challenging for smaller organizations to secure themselves due to an often-perceived limitation on funding, and there exists no clear methodology for how an organization should invest the resources it does have. Furthermore, the need to secure oneself is predicated upon an understanding of the threat actors and their methods. This also presents a further challenge as to what information is needed and how to effectively share said information among organizations to understand the threats and threat actors. The following study demonstrated while there …

Measuring The Woke Culture: An Ethnographic Study Of Disney, Inc. And The Impact Of Its Cultural Orientation On Organizational Outcomes, Alexander Averin, Jason Vranes
Journal of Fundamental & Applied Business Research
This study employed an ethnographic research design to investigate the impact of Disney Inc.’s cultural orientation since 2020 and its impact on organizational outcomes such as financial performance, image, and reputation. The impact of decision-making, contrary to the unchanging Biblical principles, on organizations who elected to pursue “woke” agendas is staggering. Rejection of the absolute Biblical truth in pursuit of humanistic, socialist, and atheist ideologies on the corporate level has become blatant on an unprecedented scale. Disney Inc., originally known as children’s “Happiest Place on Earth,” has transformed into one of the leading corporations to embrace the creeds of cancel …

Using Qualitative Meta-Synthesis To Develop A Risk And Internationalization Framework, Weber H. Radael, Gustavo Abib, Adriana Roseli Wünsch Takahashi
The Qualitative Report
Risk can be perceived in the following three different ways: (1) risk as danger – when the consequences are negative; (2) risk as uncertainty – when the variables are unknown and cannot be measured; and (3) risk as opportunity – when there is a positive return. The internationalization process is when companies expand to the international market to be exposed to high risks, which can negatively influence their performance. However, internationalization can also provide an opportunity for positive returns. Therefore, to understand how risk is analyzed in the internationalization of companies, a rigorous search for case studies was carried out. …
The Asymmetric Effects Of Identity Salience On Judgement: The Role Of Valence And Attribute Congruence, Dahee Han, Claire Heeryung Kim
The Asymmetric Effects Of Identity Salience On Judgement: The Role Of Valence And Attribute Congruence, Dahee Han, Claire Heeryung Kim
Asia Marketing Journal
A salient identity influences individuals' judgment on products. The current research investigates why identity salience sometimes produces asymmetric effects on an individual's judgment such that a salient identity often influences judgment on identity-congruent products only or identity-incongruent products only. Across two experiments, this research proposes and shows that the valence of identity-incongruent and identity-congruent attributes determines the direction of the asymmetric identity salience effects. Specifically, when an attribute of an identity-incongruent product is positively- (negatively-) valenced, identity salience influences judgment through a decreased (increased) preference for the identity-incongruent (identity-congruent) product.

For the analysis, data from 195 companies covering 2014 to 2017 were collected and analyzed via panel regression. The findings indicate that …

This paper examines the effect of users' prior VR experience on their subsequent real-life behavior in the domain of charitable consumption. Specifically, we find that compared to experienced VR users, novice VR users are more likely to support a charitable cause in real life (e.g., ocean conservation) after experiencing this cause in VR. The increased support among novice VR users occurs because they perceive the use of VR …

This study attempts to elevate the previous research by investigating the role of POS and organizational socialization in onboarding academic librarians using the City University of New York (CUNY) as its sample population. The researchers requested participants to complete a questionnaire designed to …
