In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s, resorts started popping up among Otter Tail County’s wooded hills and 1,048 crystal clear lakes. Those early resorts are responsible for much of the County’s early infrastructure and economic development. Today, tourism and hospitality remain Otter Tail County’s second largest industry. However, resorts are disappearing. Since 1985, over 50% of Otter Tail County’s resorts have closed. Given the cultural and economic significance of resorts in Otter Tail County, it is important to better understand the implications of their decline. Fabricated metals manufacturing employment in the U.S. declined after the 2008 recession. Within a complex adaptive systems framework, this study compared job loss patters and workforce composition for two geographic regions. Statistically significant differences in post-recession recovery patterns and workforce demographics pointed to targeted economic incentive developments for regional manufacturing sectors.

An onboarding strategy can help online universities improve new doctoral student productivity, engagement, and retention. A prescribed plan is vital to ensure the onboarding process is aligned, and clear designed support is provided for students. Recent literature justifies strategic onboarding includes acquiring the necessary knowledge, skills and behaviors to become successful members of an organization (Beaver and Erdogan, 2011). Similarly, doctoral students may benefit from clearly designed rules, protocols, and practices exclusive to the online doctoral experience. This study presents the process of strategic onboarding strategies for that will provide a smart start for online doctoral students.

The 2016 State of Nonprofits and Philanthropy annual report analyzes the health of San Diego’s nonprofit sector, identifies important trends, and reports on leadership perspectives.

The number of nonprofit organizations is rebounding to pre-recession levels, while revenues and nonprofit employment continue on an upward trend. Nonprofits remain an important contributor to the local economy. Accounting for nine percent of County employment, San Diego’s 10,196 nonprofits generated $14.9B in revenue and hold $23.8B in assets. Financial indicators as well as patterns of household giving and volunteering point to a more stable nonprofit sector in San Diego compared to the previous year. …

Oddajemy do Państwa dyspozycji ósmą już monografię poświęconą problemom Mazowsza, wydaną przez Wydawnictwa Naukowe Wydziału Zarządzania Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. Temat przewodni tego opracowania to „Rola energii odnawialnej w rozwoju społeczno-ekonomicznym kraju i regionu”. Tematyka obecnej monografii koncentruje się na prezentacji wyników badań pracowników Wydziału Zarządzania Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego, dotyczących stanu i perspektyw rozwoju odnawialnych źródeł energii w kontekście uwarunkowań międzynarodowych, krajowych oraz regionalnych. Zadaniem sektora ubezpieczeniowego jest stabilizacja gospodarki, zarówno w sferze przedsiębiorstw jak i gospodarstw domowych. Nie jest jego celem eliminacja ryzyka, bo wówczas rozwój nie byłby możliwy, jednak takie go ograniczenie, by nieprzewidywalne wydarzenia nie zagroziły stabilności systemu, zarówno w skali lokalnej, jak i krajowej oraz regionalnej.
