Computer Skills Effects Of Flight Data Monitoring Technology In An Aircraft Inspection Process, Thomas P. Speca

Purdue Polytechnic Directed Projects

Purdue University has recently purchased and deployed a new fleet of aircraft that include a cutting edge avionics suite with flight data monitoring technology. This technology gathers data during flight on airframe, powerplant, and flight parameters of the airplane. This study evaluated how the new technologies influenced the inspection process of the airplanes, as well as highlight new skills required by the inspectors to utilize the technologies. This issue was addressed because inspectors may not be able to take full advantage of what the new data from the airplane if they don’t possess the proper skills to access and assess …

The Implementation Of Web-Based Project Management Systems By The General Contractor: Transferring From Hard-Copy To Digital Format., Jason A. Miller

Purdue Polytechnic Directed Projects

Abstract

The construction industry is undergoing a transition from being paper based to a digital one. This transition puts a document management challenge on all members of the construction team, but most specifically the general contractor which has to ensure that the appropriate information reaches the intended party in a usable format. The submittal process has historically been very paper intensive with multiple copies begin distributed to various parties. Transitioning to a digital format will decrease the amount of paper copies, but presents challenges to the general contractor. The first is the traditional method of noting documents will not be …

Comparisons Between Educational Map Software Displaying Soil Data, Laura A. Kocur Jan 2011

Comparisons Between Educational Map Software Displaying Soil Data, Laura A. Kocur

Department of Computer Graphics Technology Degree Theses

The use of technology in the classroom is becoming more widespread, and the area of agronomy is no different. Utilization of various mapping technology is more common in instructional components in the classroom, although the impacts of software usability have not yet been explored. Maps available over the Internet are identified as an area in which usability is not known, nor are there any fixed standards or conventions to govern the display of them. The recently developed mapping prototype is intended to increase accessibility to map data used in class, as well as make it easier to use the data. …

Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) will soon start to be introduced into the transportation sector, thereby raising a host of issues related to their use, adoption and effects on the electricity sector. Their introduction has the potential to significantly reduce carbon emissions from the transportation sector, which has led to government policies aimed at easing their introduction. If their wide-spread adoption is set as a target it is imperative to consider the effects of existing policies that may increase or decrease their adoption rate. In this study, we present a micro level electricity demand model that can gauge the effects …
