Journal of Applied Sport Management
Analytics has become quite the buzzword, but its application to discover, interpret, and communicate meaningful patterns from voluminous, velocitous, and varied data still resonates in the sport industry, and has an incredibly important place in modern sports betting. Specifically, big data and analytics (BDA) can help address marketing issues as iGaming in North America enters its infancy and attempts to establish a mature marketplace. This article is dedicated to unpacking the iGaming model and uncovers where BDA could and should be applied to derive greater insights on sports betting consumer behavior.
Analytical And Theoretical Perspectives On Sport-Related Vr Research: Spatial Presence Manipulation Guidelines, Jihoon Kim
Journal of Applied Sport Management
As more scholars incorporate VR into their research, theoretical frameworks for empirical investigation and methodological guidelines for manipulation become more crucial. Because VR is a relatively new instrument and validating the implementation of VR can be challenging, scholars need to exercise caution when manipulating stimuli and measuring experimental conditions. Thus, the aim of the current essay is twofold: (a) address various methodological challenges (e.g., manipulation check) in recent VR studies and (b) discuss potential theoretical frameworks for future VR research in sport.

Sport Isn’T Sacred And Analytics Isn’T New: Challenging Common Notions About Sports Analytics, Grant Morgan, Marshall Magnusen
Journal of Applied Sport Management
The authors add to the debate about whether sport and numbers can cohabitate in modern day athletics, three areas are explored (albeit briefly) in the present paper. The first area focuses on the newness (or lack thereof) of analytics. The second area focuses the objectivity of analytics. The third area focuses on the idea that athletic competition is somehow sacred and should not be soiled by applying various statistical methods to practical sport performance problems.

Gender And Corporate Crime: Do Women On The Board Of Directors Reduce Corporate Bad Behavior?, Ido Baum, Dalit Gafni, Ruthy Lowenstein Lazar
Michigan Journal of Gender & Law
Public debate on mandating gender representation on boards of directors in the United States is close to a boiling point. California introduced a mandatory quota in 2018 only to see it constitutionally disqualified in 2022, and the Nasdaq Stock Market followed suit with new diversity rules in 2021 for all corporations listed on the exchange. While public discourse focuses on corporate performance, not much is known about the link between gender diversity and corporate normative obedience.
In this study we explore the relationship between boardroom gender representation and corporate compliance with the law. We examine the impact of gender diversity …
The Rise Of Terrorism In Africa And What It Means For U.S. Policymakers, Bridget Mary Hughes
The Rise Of Terrorism In Africa And What It Means For U.S. Policymakers, Bridget Mary Hughes
Master's Theses
This thesis utilizes three case studies to measure the rise of terrorism in Africa. This qualitative data leads the reader to one ultimate question: what does the rise in terrorism in Africa mean for the United States (U.S.) and U.S. policymakers, National Security academia, students in National Security, if anything at all? The answer is: if civilian and military compounds are being targeted by these violent extremists, as these three case studies demonstrate, it is my recommendation that U.S. policymakers cease sending troops to the African theater and, instead, allocate funding to the citizens and nonprofits of the countries whom …

The rapid development of digital technology through the years, and the rails provided by the internet for connectivity remains the most important development that has impacted change and driven massive improvement in the operation of banking and financial services. Adoption Of The Enaira: Issues And The Way Forward, Biodun Adedipe
Adoption Of The Enaira: Issues And The Way Forward, Biodun Adedipe
Economic and Financial Review
As cryptocurrencies evolved and became more popular, it became obvious that the world was trending towards monetary disintegration and oversight reversal. It was becoming fashionable for technology-motivated products to be developed either to reduce or eliminate regulation of monetary transactions. The monetary system was gradually moving towards opacity that could create a ‘safe environment’ for illegal activities and open a new vista for money laundering. This of course, should be of grave concern to any monetary authority or government.

The COVID-19 pandemic had a tremendous impact on every aspect of life, particularly within the world of banking & finance. This paper analyzes the income statements and balance sheets of M&T Bank (an older, more well-established bank) and Citizens Bank (a less-established bank) during this difficult time.
The first part of my thesis describes similarities and differences between M&T Bank and Citizens Bank. I explain how these similarities and differences may …

We examine the relatively privileged position that professional sports franchises at the highest echelon in the U.S. and Canada enjoy and compare it the industry dynamics firms face in competitive environments. We remark upon the expansion of the league via debt financing, and why that promotes increased use of analytics. We also offer several propositions about the growth of analytics, and we conclude with some thoughts about what the future may hold for PSOs and analytics.

A Welfare Comparison Of Historical Cost And Fair Value Accounting Regimes, Palmer Edholm
A Welfare Comparison Of Historical Cost And Fair Value Accounting Regimes, Palmer Edholm
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
With ongoing controversy concerning fair value and historical cost accounting, existing accounting theory is focused on intra-firm decision making and is thus deficient in addressing the issue of maximizing social welfare. I propose models of historical cost and fair value accounting regimes which are embedded in models of monopoly and oligopoly. This allows for social welfare implications. I find that historical cost results in greater expected profits for both monopolists and oligopolists. However, if the market is elastic enough, a fair value regimes is welfare enhancing. Whereas, if the market is inelastic enough, historical cost is welfare enhancing.

Building on previous work itemizing the diversity of motivations for visitation to parks and protected areas, this study investigates similarities and differences in stakeholder and manager Recreation Experience Preferences by clustering …

CBN Journal of Applied Statistics (JAS)
This study examines the impact of exchange rate on trade flow in Nigeria from 1986 to 2021. The study utilises linear and nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL and NARDL) models to test the J-Curve hypothesis and the Marshall-Lerner condition in Nigeria. The study found symmetric effects of exchange rate on trade balance, exports, and imports. The findings also show that real exchange rate depreciation has a strong negative influence on trade balance and exports in the short run but positive in the long run, exhibiting the shape typology of the J-curve. Furthermore, the study reveals evidence of the Marshall-Lerner condition …

The CCEMG and AMG results showed a significant and negative correlation between central bank independence and inflation. On the other hand, financial stability is only significant in the MG Model. Additional results obtained using the Garriga CBI index is consistent with our main results. The …
